Seriously - what more do these people want? *rant*

I am mobile MT 2. And just this morning I had a guy call about me coming to his home for him and his wife. So he wanted to know my prices so I told him $65 for a 60 min. and $80 for a 90 min. So right off the bat he asked me what kind of discount I was going to offer him for doing 2 massages in a row in his home. I told the guy I don't offer discounts for out calls and he was really insulted that I would not come down on my price for him.

So this guy calls me again last night. Still unable to find an MT to come to his house. Again asked me if I would come down on my price bc $130 for him and his wife is still to high. Told him if he wants a cheaper price than he needs to come to my office, but he won't bc 12 miles is to far for him to drive. Some people crack me up t005

Well he and his wife must not want a massage that bad then.
$65 per massage for outcall is a GREAT rate!

To NOT book it because of a few bucks shows that either he does not value massage (we don't want him for a client) or
he does not value himself and partner enough (we still don't want him as a client).

Oh boy,
How cheap can you go? In my post above: "cheap not good, good not cheap," the gardener's employer- a millionaire many times over. He used to do this to me when his daughter would visit and get a massage. He would deduct $10.00 from my fee because " I was already there." :shock: I was shocked that he did this, but he was a weekly client, so I let it go. :roll:
I imagine in today's economy everything is negotiable, yet, I think fees for home visits should remain higher than office visits. If people don't want to drive, they should pay more. Isn't it more to buy milk at 7-11 than Safeway? :altwink: Maybe you could direct these people to the nearest Massage Envy.

I did not read all the other posts due to time, but I just wanted to add my comment.
I hope I am not repeating what others have posted.

You never have to go into a long explanation about your prices.
When people ask my rate for a house call and then ask the price of an office visit.
I kindly remind them that coming to your home is a conveinence for the client.
Many seem to think the extra charge is for set-up. NO! You don't have to get
dressed and leave your house after a relaxing massage, that is a luxury for many,
If they don't want to pay
then they would not be good clients anyway. :massage:

If someone complains that I charge $20 more than another massage therapist in town I reply sweetly "My prices reflect the level of my training" - if they continue to hem or haw I offer them the number of the local massage school where they can get "a student massage". 4/5 book with me. 1/10th take the number and 1/10 just hang up.
