Thanks to everyone who has responded! The TV show taping went well Thursday night. It was HOT working under those TV lights, but once I started working on my clients, I forgot about the cameras and the studio audience. The game show was going on around me while I worked, and one of my clients looked up at me in the middle of his session and asked, "have you figured out the puzzle yet?" I had to laugh. I had forgotten there *was* a puzzle.

I got a new cell phone today. One that is not prepaid. The only bummer is that because my old phone was prepaid (tracphone), I had to change my phone number. Now I've got to redo all of my literature, web site, etc... Good news is I've still got plenty of time on the prepaid to get thru the transition time. I'll just be carrying 2 phones for a while :roll: .

Next order of business is new sheets. I'm borrowing a set of jersey sheets from my mentor to see if I like them. He's had his for 7 years, and they still look close to brand new (and he uses the heck out of them). He gave me a source to buy them for 9.99 a set (twin size). http://www.domestications.com

After that, advertising on Ray's Weather.

Then, Thai Massage Level 1. 40-hour CEU course offered here in my home town by my mentor. He's discounting my tuition since I'm helping him with designing fliers, etc.

That still leaves a lot of money in the bank. I'm just not comfortable pre-paying my rent. You never know what will happen tomorrow, and I'd hate to lose all that money if my landlord suddenly decided she wasn't going to stay there anymore.

Things are looking up! I've got 3 clients booked tomorrow, and a strong possibility of a 4th before the end of the week. Yay!

Instead of paying the rent ahead of time, how about putting it in a separate checking account so that it will safely be there for future rent?

I have to second not offering discounts. If offer a thirty dollar massage what you get is clients who want a thirty dollar massage. For example people who go to beauty schools for their hair generally won't follow the student out into the real world when they leave. They just get another student.

That being said the way to try to convert some of those discounted clients is to gradually raise their prices say ten dollars at a time. Slow and easy does it. Say ten dollars every three to six months. You'll have them up to full price in no time.

i just wanted to add that you should spend some of that money on making your massage table the most comfortable table any client has ever been on....anywhere! once they're on that table, they'll remember it and they'll want to come back. purchase a memory foam (twin size) mattress topper, arm rest (adds an extra 6-8" of width to your table) a table warmer, a nice blanket & really nice sheets. spend more than you would normally on those sheets. people really notice & do appreciate it.

there are always ways of getting clients on your table. i say spend that money on impressing the heck out of them before, during and after they've been to see you. a nice shirt with your name/number/logo, nice business cards, nice website, thank-you post cards, a cozy environment and the greatest table and massage they've ever had. that's the best marketing and advertising you could ever do for yourself!
