To Stay In Canada

Have any of you come across any MPA who have asked you to be their boyfriend or marry them so they in Canada. Or even offered money to marry them so they can stay in Canada.
I ask this because this weekend a MPA whom I have seen on a reguler bases, asked if I would take some money and marry her so she could stay in Canada. "I should have never told her I wasn't married". This through me for a loop and I can it was one of the first times I was lost for words. Then thinking about this, it may be more common to girls in this industry as many of them are foreign girls, they have the money and they do meet many men!

I don't really think Immigration gives a girl a break just because she has a Canadian born kid. The kid will be eligible for Canadian citizenship though, when he/ she grows up.

I would think there's a serious risk of you being found out and charged with Immig fraud. Immigration conducts spot checks on "couples" - i.e. showing up at their residences. And as well, the interview is pretty tough to get through. (You and the girl are interviewed separately on very small details of your supposed life together.) Just remember: Keep a file folder of all those "wedding snaps" and rehearse the part of the story where you say you got to meet her sister in Montreal. Etc.

and the mom gets to stay even regardless of her immigration status...

and guess who's on the hook for supporting both even if you had an iron-clad prenup?

A Russian SP I knew a few years ago did just that, and I think she got what she wanted. A Chinese MP attendant asked me if I wanted to be her 'boyfriend'. Again, just another step on their voyage to become Canadian citizens. Luckily, I am happy to report that I am still single!

Actually I'm pretty sure that marrying a Canadian doesn't guarantee immigrant status. If a landed immigrant were to marry a Canadian, he/she would have to return to his/her home country after the VISA expired, reapply like normal etc. No extra points for marrying a Canadian.

An Agreement that will provide you with complete protection simply doesn't exist - do not accept any information to the contrary. You could end up losing some of your assets and be on the hook for financial support for the rest of your life!

Depending upon the country they are from, they may be able to apply for immigrant status from Canada.

If you sponsor someone, you sign an agreement that you will be financially responsible for them for 7 or 10 years (I can't remember).

I wouldn't do it.

I haven't practised Immig law for a few years, but I would be surprised if being married to a Canadian doesn't help a girl out big-time.

She would at least be able to apply for status from inside Canada. If you agree to sponsor her as your wife, she will avoid the entire "points system" and qualify automatically as "Family Class" on an expedited basis. This is the whole beauty of immigration marriages.

Well first to the guy who said you won't get citizenship through marriage, that's wrong. You do get it. I know two people in the last 2 years that did it.

It should also be noted that you will have to be married to this girl for 2 years before you divorce her in order for her to get the citizenship for her. If you divorce after a year and a bit, it is all null and void and she has to go back to... whereever. If you're not planning on getting married or meeting someone serious for the next two years, great. But if you would wanna be seeing someone... well you cut off your chances to move to a certain point.

i would avaoid against it unless you were entirely broke and had no propsects...

for exampl,e, if you own a house, she automatically gets 1/2 of it if it is deemed the marital home.

worse, if she decides to get pregnant, even by another guy, you can still end up on the hook with child support and support for her until she is capable of supporting herself...

there are many risks and its not worth doing, IMHO.

5TH: SHE HAS TO BE IN CANADA LEAST 3 YEARS TO BECOME CANADIAN, AND TAKES ABOUT 18 MONTHS TO PROCESSING A APPLICATION THAT MEANS 41/2 YR TO BECOME CND CITIZEN.

6TH: IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR KID IS CND SHE HAVE TO GO THREW THE CITIZENSHIP TEST

7TH: YOU HAVE TO SPONSOR FOR 10 YEARS DOESN'T MATTER THE AGE OF YOUR SPOUSE.

PS: HAVE TO SEND TWO PHOTOS OF YOUR WEDDING AND WRITE A LITTLE ESSAY ABOUT YOU TWO AND HOW YOU MET AND WHY APPLYING IMMIG PAPER IN CANADA (RULE: APPLICATION HAVE TO SUMMITED THREW CANADIAN EMBASSY)?

Agree with Whosyodaddy, it sure looks like abcd doesn't know 123... Good thing some of us checked the fed'l govt website. We wouldn't want to intentionally/not intentionally mislead others reading this board would we ? Maybe abc had this stressful experience & couldn't remember the exact facts.
From my own research, if one wants to speed up the processing time of papers, just hire a good lawyer (means paying more). When all is said & done, everyone is happy.

Look, abcd does sort of know his stuff. The immigration rules changed recently and depending upon where you are in the process you will be under either the new or old rules.

And yes, you will probably be asked to provide wedding pictures. In fact one of my friends who is several months into the immigration process says that one of the new forms requests pictures. The old forms did not, but if you checked with an immigration consultant (most of whom are rip-offs, imho) they recommended sending photos anyways.

Anyways, no matter who you listen to (whoisyodaddy or abcd...) I think that the decision is clear: don't do it.

I know someone that arranges those type of things before they even arrive.

I also agree, DON'T DO IT.....

I've heard many stories and Spoken to some of them and I don't recommend it.
