In Japan, most public washrooms don't have soap. Only high end hotels and grocery stores etc., have soap to wash your hands. Also in Japan, you have to squat to take a shit into a hole at most subway stops (around Nagoya at least, city of 2+ million people).

Many Japanese people don't wash their hands with soap after taking a shit. It was an eye-opener when I lived in Japan and realized how unsanitary Japanese people are. Japanese people are very organized and neat, but they are not sanitary. There is a difference between the two.

In Toronto, most Chinese SPs don't wash their hands between clients. And many Chinese SPs don't use soap in the shower either.

It is cultural. Kinda gross, but you get used to it.
