1. 2 stuffed IKEA Billy bookkcases (the big ones) and I'm trying to find a third (used) as my couch currently the home for another bunch of books. I would estimate my personal library to have betwen 6-700. My dream is to have a library similar to the one in 'Beauty And The Beast'. I do try to rotate books as much as possible though, only keeping the ones I need for reference, or that I enjoyed so much I would reread for pleasure.

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy – 19% - own it but have not read it yet
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens – 18% - own it but have not read it yet
Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger – 15% - yes
A Passage to India by E M Forster – 12% - no
Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkein – 11% - own the series, have not read it yet, last attempt made several years ago but could not stay focused
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee – 10% - no
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky – 8% - own it but have not read it.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – 8% - own it but have not read it

You should read "The Bell Jar". I have read most on that list, including "Passage to..." and "David Copperfield" which is far superior to "Expectations". If you want to enjoy modern lit. I suggest you read the trilogy by Rachel Cusk which starts with the title "Outline".

Lee Child wrote the Jack Reacher series. Tom Cruise made a couple of movies based on the Reacher character.
They are a light read but fun. Each one stands on its own, but they're a bit better if read in order.

Having said that, I highly recommend the Ava Lee series by Canadian author, Ian Hamilton.
Definitely best to read these in order as the characters develop throughout the series.

I do too. That story is too bizarre to make up. Also probably an accurate description of the fundamental breakdown of the father's responsibility (to keep his daughter off the pole). She was probably relating it out of despondency (when your dad tells you you're not capable of doing anything other than sex work, don't be surprised when you end up doing sex work). To add - there are many places in the world in which is is culturally acceptable for family to sell their children... we shouldn't be surprised when we see it happening in our backyard.

trust me...it's true. It really annoyed me because it was at that point I made the connection that mental illness is sometimes "taught" or passed down in ways that are not exactly genetic. I was sexually abused repeatedly in my childhood and it was only in my 40s that I made the connection that I was simply not behaving right in my 20 and 30s. I did not know I was hugely depressed. Women that I would date liked me soooooo much, but I just could not see that. I was depressed. So now I live to read books, recover from my trauma, obsess over money and make sure to not hurt anyone. It's hard because I often felt "loved" in the spa setting. I'm sorry for going off-topic; however, that story about the attendant and her father driving her to work is true. I do not know if it is in fact true. But that is how the conversation went as the two of us were getting dressed after our session.

And yet I forgive him/loved him because I don't think he understood or appreciated what he was doing. He needed help too. I don't know. What I can say is that I can go into DEEP FOCUS on things. LIke, all in and all of the time. Like when I create a 4 hour playlist for my 3 hours walks (two 90 minute sessions) it's all I will listen to for half the year before I can snap out of it. Books....I binge for 5 or 6 hours every day for three months straight and then stop. Now I'm in stop or rest mode and even all that reading in some strange way felt like I was lost in some way.

Right now I am thinking nonstop about a women I dated almost 15 years ago. How she wanted me and my inexplicable reason for drifting away. Should I have told her I was faking normal? Should I have told her I was abused? I googled her recently and, of course, she has two beautiful kids. I wish I were a father. I know I'm messed up, but I assure you...I would have been so loving, so good to them.

Sounds like BPD with disassociation. There is help.
