I think it's a scam!

Hey, about a week ago I got an email from a guy claiming to be in the UK and planning a trip here in Wisconsin at the end of Nov. He says he's coming here just to visit (first tip off since here is bubble fudge USA! nothing really to 'see' or 'do' here...)
I wants to pre pay. After thinking about it and talking to my hubby we agreed that was not a good idea--since so many things can come up like needing to cancel for some reason...
So I emailed him back and said my policy is no prepaying. Now, 6 days later he emails me back saying he sent a money order. I have no intention of endorsing it so I'll have to talk to my bank. I told the guy I will not be able to provide massage. This whole thing is getting to be a babysitting pain. I just want him to go away now. I don't have time to deal with this. If the MO comes can I just tear it up? Why waste time and money on this idiot to figure out what I need to do--Im not spending my money to send it back. I told him not to send it!
What do you all think? Anyone have this experience?

My advice would be to not respond to anymore emails from them and to give any "checks" that they might send you to the Postmaster for investigation into mail fraud.

I have also had this happen, and they sent me a money order, while I knew it was a scam. I took the money order to my bank to ask about it, cause I was curious what the deal was (It looked so real, I wanted to know how it could be a scam), and they told me that the only way to find out if it was real was to send it to some main treasury bank with a fee for them to check it. *If* I did deposit it and it was fake, I would also get some bad credit points against me for deposting a fake check, and I think I would be charged a fee also. I thought that was pretty crazy and I'm still not sure I believe I could get in trouble for their scamming....but I guess it is possible.

I would rip up the MO, do not deposit it. It is a scam, the MO will most likely be for more than you quoted, and they will ask you to send the remainder of the balance back, or onto somewhere else. The MO will bounce, and come up as being fraudulent. but the scammers are counting on you being honest, and sending them back the amount they over paid, usually when they ask for it, before the MO has cleared. You will then be out what ever amount they asked for.

Rip it up, do not do anything with it. It is a very common scam, they have been changing the locations and details to try to lure more people in.

I strung my e-mail guy along. I knew it was a scam. Told him an outragous price, he agreed, said he would get one of his US contacts to send me a check. I told him I delt in cash only. Never heard from him again
