Went to Japan in my 20s with a buddy (both white). Tried to get into a nightclub, bouncer signalled for us to get lost. Most westerners who complain about racism have no idea how the world is outside the west. Places like India (caste system), the middle east and many parts of Asia are far more discriminatory and "racist".
If an individual doesnt want to service someone, doesnt want to hire XYZ for their private business, doesnt want to rent their property to XYZ etc etc that is their prerogative. In an ideal world we wouldnt have any stereotypes but we live in the real world where many exist for a reason.
The messed up thing is when "minorities" do this kind of behaviour its ok, when white people do it, they are the devil. Ive seen many advertisements "female only", "chinese only", "Indian only", "Islamic only". Heck there are publicly funded housing in this city who will flat out not allow you to occupy a "muslim" building.

I have been to Japan many times but I have not seen much of the sex trade (because I went with my wife). I will say do your research first, do not just stumble in. There is exploitation and there are scams. Not sex related, but here is an example of a scam: you get approached on the street by an attractive woman who tells you about a nightclub/restaurant who has great deal: dinner for two and unlimited drinks for one hour for say $60. You get intrigued and she guides you and a companion to the place. An hour later you get a bill for $1,000. You complain but the owners deny knowing anything about a deal and claim to know nothing about the person who approached you. And if you do not pay the Yakuza has a conversation with you. On the rare occasion when a fleeced customer complains to the police they do absolutely nothing.
