If Coronavirus was left unchecked and allowed to spread at the same rate as the flu you could expect 875,000 deaths. A pretty significant number.

Looks like people have calmed down a bit and have faith in Canadian Health department messages. I am at Richmond Hills Dagu noodle house just across the street from Suko spa. The place is packed and I didn't see anyone wearing masks and walking outside either.

I work in biotech (vaccines). Much of the stuff out there is fear mongering. Hygiene is your best defence. This virus is more deadly than flu (2% kill chance over 0.5) but less deadly than SARS (10% kill rate). They problem is that people are contagious without symptoms. The CCP governent was in denial until late in the game.

Spa owners aren't stupid. Ladies who returned from China will be told to quarantine themselves.

Doesn't matter, fucking too many customers comming and going will create the risk. You have no idea what the customer has been exposed to before they arrived at spa... for example they could have spent the day visiting someone Sunnybrook hospital.

Umm...Canada typically sees 200 to 300 deaths from Flu per year. So if you were going to be scared of something, it makes more sense to be scared of the flu.

Coronavirus mortality rate is estimated (at the high end) to be about 3%. Is it potentially a serious global pandemic? Sure, especially since the incubation period seems to be about 14 days, during which the person who can spread the disease shows no signs of sickness. But big picture, it's not as big a scare as some folks here seem to think it is. MP risk is unchanged...and keep enjoying your favourite Chinese restaurant.
