During the SARS issue most of the people that died had pre-existing medical issues. Diabetic, high blood pressure, over weight, smokers, stress etc. The medical staff during SARS were heavily exposed to the virus during an extremely stressful period. There will always be people who are susceptible to the flu and will die. Just like the guy that was instrumental in the jogging craze in the 80's and 90's died of a heart attack while jogging.

You must know of the flu pandemic of 1918. It was called the Spanish flu. It is estimated that 500 000 000 were infected. Estimated deaths were 50 000 000. While the corona virus is not a flu per say it is an upper respiratory disease. The flu on average kills +500 000 a year. The flu is much more dangerous then the corona virus. Knowledge and facts are superior to fear and speculation but fear and speculation are greater at causing a panic. I will gladly debate you on facts but not on fear. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Good luck in office towers, the TTC, touching doors, elevator buttons, currency, debit/Visa machines, restaurants or the people that prepare the food, any closed space, anything that has been touched by a human being has the potential to have the flu virus on it and they do not have to be Chinese.

The reason why the western countries have been spared a mass outbreak of ebola is that the African people who are usually infected are not nearly as wealthy and mobile as the Chinese.

Hygiene, diet, local superstitions, and many other localized issues in Africa contribute to the ebola problem there, much as similar issues in mainland China contribute to the corona virus problem, such as SARS back in 2002/2003, and the current virus. Btw SARS peaked in Toronto around and just after the time of Chinese New Year's in early 2003.

The difference here is that far fewer African people in the affected areas are likely to go back and forth between their homeland and North America, whereas vast numbers of Chinese people traditionally go back to visit their friends and relatives in China at New Year's and other times, and return to North America often as carriers of the virus, usually unknowingly given the incubation period involved.

Why? in the U.S. alone, according to the news,a lot of people die from the flu every year,so why to worry so much about this virus.?

Because it seems that the percentage of people who get very seriously ill or even die from coronavirus is very much higher than those who get that that ill from the common flu.

Wait until, God forbid, coronavirus becomes as widespread and established in North America as is the flu virus.

BTW..just saw it on BBC news. Some health officials are now saying it is spreading so fast now through people with no symptoms and they do not think it is containable.

Might as well go have some bat soup at Wuhan Noodle at Warden and hwy7 HSBC plaza and go to Orchid spa in that same plaza.
