Where can you go to get tested?

I want to get tested because I've been hobbying for around 6 months now and while I have no symptoms and haven't visited any MPAs in the past 3 weeks I read online (which I know you shouldn't sometimes) that some STIs can remain symptomless for quite a long time.

My worry is that since my family doctor is a good friend of mine and my whole family including parents, siblings etc, I'm worried if I do get tested, regardless of if it's positive or negative, some of my family members might find out since they're crazy conservatives and think I've been single for a long time.

If it comes back positive that's even worse because even if I get it done at another walk-in clinic would my information be sent to him?

Is there a way to get one done anonymously?

In Toronto there is the Hassle Free Clinic. In Peel and Halton (and probably others) they have sexual health clinics run by the municipality. These are confidential, meaning they won't share your info without your consent. You can get anonymous HIV tests, but I think anything else will be under your name.

York Public Health Clinic on Hwy 7 in Markham. Completely discreet and they will not CC your Doctor. Plus you are encouraged to fill up a brown paper bag with condoms and lube all free of charge. Results take about a week but they will not phone you with them. You have to phone, ask if your results are back and if they are you need to visit again to get in person. You'll see a few hookers in the waiting area.

You will wait a long time to see a doctor, but you will see one and they will test. Just be prepared to wait.

Careful if you have a family doctor. If you are a rostered patient, and randomly go to std clinics, your family doctor can see that, and threaten to deroster you. Happened to me.

Reason being, your family doctor gets a lump sum of money for rostered patients. If you get treated at a different clinic, the cost will be extracted from your family doctor's lump sum.

Hospitals are The PRIMARYY point for STDs, STDs are a PUBLIC health issue, an infection can affect the community at large so they will check your STDs. In fact Hospitals are the ORIGINAL and only point were STDs were treated (circa 1970's).

There was a young male from Ontario that was in the news about 10 years ago that got arrested and sent to prison for not telling all of his sex partners that he had HIV. I'm not mentioning names, but he was well known in his community because he was a manager of his family business. He ended up infecting about 20 young women in total. He didn't believe that he was infected, even though he was told that he was. Even his father got in on it, telling the media that it was impossible, and it was some kind of mistake, because he said his son looked and felt normal. He ordered him to be retested, and the test results proved positive again. And the father and son still couldn't believe it. I remember the police were asked about the interrogation. The police were dumbfounded as to how was it that he was able to get sex with so many different women. They asked him what his secret was. He told them that you gotta have a heart. Many people couldn't believe so many women fell for this guy, because even though he wasn't ugly, he still wasn't anything to write home about, or get a second look.

Because of his stupidity, he ruined the lives of 20 other women. Some of them were interviewed by the TV news, crying as they were telling their stories. So sad.
