I once went to a place to see a girl I used to see somewhere else. I heard through the grapevine that she was working there. She's not someone who I keep in touch with, we do not have each other's numbers.
I went in and asked the receptionist if she was working. The receptionist called for her to come to the front. When she came into the lobby and saw me, her face lit up, she literally ran to me, and jumped up on me and wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. A huge full body hug.
The receptionist said dryly, I guess you two know each other.
Another time, I went to see a MPA I used to see semi regularly first thing in the morning, right when the doors opened.
She didn't know it was me in the room. When she came in, she saw it was me, and said she was so glad it was me that morning. She gave me a big hug and started to cry. I was puzzled and asked her what was wrong. She had a fairly serious personal problem that had just come up that morning and was in no mood to be at the spa nor to put on a happy face for customers. She was so comfortable with me tat she was able to just let go and be herself. We talked, I comforted her, and we kept the activities very low mileage compared to usual.
She refused to take any money from me and insisted on paying my door fee as well. A very unusual appointment, but we both left the room feeling much better than when we had come in.
