Hi As you can guess i'm a female and hence in a small minority from all other members here. The threads i've read when i came to this board was initially about getin general info on and about phuket but found it was 90% about gettin laid with bar girls which is cool.

I've got one question being a female.....Do you guys really seriously want to settle down with a bar girl?? i mean I'm goin to Phuket for my second time in 2 weeks and have seen the nightlife but having read many threads of guys getting burnt by bar girls wouldn't you be better settling for a normal girl not in the bar scene.

Oh and guys aren't you scared of catching std's????

Other than that great message board and i hope to pop into MTB in 2 weeks!!!!!!

I hope I'm wrong but your post does come across as a bit of a troll post. Not a lot of info about yourself on your profile.

However, if you are genuine, it is interesting that you don't consider "bar girls" to be on the same social level as "normal girls".

Many of the board members have been burnt by "normal" girls and also we have had a few female members who have been burnt by "bar boys" and I am also sure that plenty of "normal" girls have been burnt by "normal" boys.

How would you go about making the right decision as far as a boyfriend/partner goes?

For me personally it is the enjoyment of a holiday in a great country, with the added bonus of knowing I can spend some quality time with some women that are beautiful on the inside and out. And they really are once you get to know them.

Yes, some guys do fall in love and it's hard not to as you often get more of a ''girlfriend experience'' rather than the western version of ''prostitution''
Often lasting friendships can result too, but it's a case of knowing where the blurry line is between ''GFE'' and ''paying for it''.

As for STD's, In 7 trips I have certainly been with my fair share of thai women and never once caught anything, of course some guys have from time to time but generally speaking, thai bg's are obsessed with hygene, you tend to have showers before and after sex, each and every time, thai girls also wash their vaginas rigorously too.

well travel girl, as stated some have been burnt by bgs and tgs.

me, i enjoy the company of bgs for all that it entails(sex,fun,drinking,no obligations beyond commerical transaction).

but i made a decision 2 years ago to marry a "good girl" it took me a long time to find 1, and many meetings with different girls but i found 1, and being a traditional tg not a bg all the hassle that it involves.(language, culture, no sex, lack of knowledge about farangs, insularity of thai education, respectable behaviour in the village and town, and more)

sometimes is all the hassle worth it, i think so.

as for stds i would never want to bring that to a relationship, with a girl i would marry.

so when with bgs and farang girls back home, it always cover up and have fun.

Nothing in what I posted commented on how to avoid STD's.

Just merely stated I haven't caught them myself in 7 trips, that's quite a lot of women in that time.

Thai bg's that are sensible (not all of them but most that I choose) are fully aware of all the issues on the importance of cleanliness and safe sex.

Of course, you seem to know better, so it looks like you know something we don't and that you are about to educate everyone on the forum with your wisdom.

Erm high standards of personal hygine will wash away some STD's..

Crabs and thrush would both be 'washed away' with the right soaps.. Shaving and ensuring extra care in cleanlyness lowers STD risk for sure.

Why think of them as 'bargirls' and 'normal girls' ? If you want to settle down and find the right girl then the fact that she works \ worked in a bar is irrelevant.

No idea what the natives are like in My Dreams but in the UK a lot of people seem to think that every Thai girl they see used to be a hooker anyway, whether she was or not you end up having that particular finger pointed at you.

STDs? Life's a risk. You could live in a bubble and stay with your mammy all your life (I know 1 guy in his 30s who has) I guess....

Been once to patong for 4 months..............so i know quite a bit. my brother owned a bar in Patong so i've seen and watched it all.......watched 40 plus guys pick up and think they are the ONE... i've seen 3 bg's have at least 15 sponsers each promising each guy that they loved them and wanted to move to their country with them and get married while laughing and joking how stupid the guys were for believing them!!!!!

I would choose a normal tg over a bg anyday if i was a guy..............however i'm sure there is a small perceneforum.xxxe of nice bg's too if u get them early

On the subject of personal hygiene and STDs: Washing will not prevent STDs but it will REDUCE THE RISK of an STD-causing organism becoming established. First the bug has to come into contact with you, then it has to establish a foothold, then it has to reproduce quicker than your immune system can destroy it. Cleaning any possible bugs off as soon as they land reduces their chances of gaining a foot hold. Similarly, keeping cuts and open sores covered as well as clean will deny bugs a crucial short-cut into your bloodstream. Also dirty/greasy/sweaty skin will not only provide bugs with a useful motel to stay and breed in while they wait for an opening but will also induce cracking and opening of sores to provide just such, an opening.

There is also the matter of hand to mouth operations, many of which we are unconscious of, but perform all the time. Many diseases like to get into the eyes, nose and mouth for easy access to the wet mucosa and bloodstream, but they only get the opportunity when we transfer them from whatever surfaces we touch to our face, which we do often - just watch people and you will see eye rubbing, nose scratching/picking, hands rubbing chins, wiping lips, picking teeth, licking fingers when eating or wetting stamps. Each one of these and many more similar actions has the potential to tansfer something nasty from whatever else we have touched, whoever else we have shaken hands or been more intimate with, directly to the express elevator to the inside of the body. Simple, regular hand washing vastly reduces the incidence of many kinds of infection.

So, regular washing, not just of hands but any body part that has been in contact with a potential source of disease causing agent, will reduce the chances of that agent gaining its foothold and making you sick.

Personally, around the hospital, I always carry a small personal dispenser of disinfsectant, and in LOS I always bring a bar or two of Dettol antibacterial soap ('fresh' variety, also findable as individual bars in some 7/11 type places or as 4-packs in Big-Cs etc.) for general use before and after sex instead of hotel soap.

Seems to me that most of the guys that have settled with ex BG's could also say the same about 'normal' girls.. Yes these things are a risk but if you have an understanding of people and human nature, a little bit of an open mind, basically a head on your shoulders there are plenty of diamonds int he rough.

I hate to point this out but you are coming accross with a very superior attitude (thai girls have STD's, TG make bad GF's, etc)..

2. I settle for bar girls because they are great fun to be with and it doesn't have to lead to a serious relationship if you don't want it to.
3. Yes I am scared for my life about catching std's, and thats why I have never caught one in the 10 years that I have been a player!!!
