..even for marriage purposes?

When Ali (ra) went to ask for Fatima's (ra) hand in marriage, did he go directly to her and ask? or did he even go to her and have casual chit chat? NO. He went straight to her father, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked HIM instead.

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their private parts; that will make for greater purity for them. Indeed Allaah is well acquainted with all that they do.â€￾ [an-Nur (24):30]

How can someone be lowering their gaze and then have casual chit chat? That's right, you can't.

Lol you wana know a funny thing that happened to me today sis

We had to play this "game". Basically one group of people have to sit down and then another group of people have to stand behind those who are sitting down. When a person who's standing up calls a person who is sitting down, the person who is sitting down has to run before the person who's standing up taps them on their shoulder.... So obv there are guys in my group and I didn't want to tap their shoulders nor did I want them to tap mine! Lol, I played it cool Basically, when a boy called my name, I purposely acted dopey like I forgot they were talking to me so the girl behind me had enough time to tap mu shoulder. Because if I had went, I would be sitting behind a boy and they would have to tap my shoulder if I wasn't fast enough. But just to show the teacher that I was involved, I did call a boy's name out. BUT I let them go and pretended that I had "slow" reactions.

Anyway the reason why I told that was because in many mixed schools/colleges/unis we are forced into doing these "activites" taht we don't want to do. So we have to find ways in which we are involved but to our limits. These sort of activites, like the one I have mentioned, are gateways to something else. Sure people think "oh it's just a tap on a shoulder" but one thing leads to another.... No matter what people say, one thing ALWAYS leads to something. So Insha Allah, we will try our best to avoid them but in way which we can still cooperate with our class.

We have to know our limits and learn self-control.

I don't chat with men and you are fucking rude. What about the Muslim women converts who live in an area where there are ZERO Muslims. How the hell do you expect them to get married then? Year 2010 is different we are in a non-muslim country. Secondly ive never heard of someone ask teh girls dad for marriage and have success. Thirdly if it keeps you away from zina why not, surely zina is a bigger sin?

Your question says "even for marriage purposes". Im addressing that point.

Secondly the story about Ali asking the prophet is false. There was an islamic knowledge test and whoever got the highest score would get Fatimas hand in marriage.
