Address on business cards

Since I work from home, I don't have my home address on my business cards or other marketing. I don't want unexpected people or unwanted people stopping by.
Instead, I have a PO Box listed. It will soon be time to renew my PO Box.
I really don't use it (PO Box).
Do you think it would be wrong not to have any address listed on my business cards and not renew the PO Box?
Most of my clients have come to me by word of mouth. I don't hand out cards often, but I do like to have them for my clients to give out to people they know.

I agree with you about not putting your home address on your cards. Most of the people I know do outcalls or work at several locations and never put any address on their cards, just a phone number or two, e-mail, and what services they offer. Seems to work well, people call and get what info they need when an appointment is scheduled. I don't think it's hurt anyone's (including mine) business so far.

In the two years I been in business in this town I have changed my location three times. But my phone numbers have remained the same. I do not put my address on my cards because no one really needs to mail me anything, and even though I have a location downtown, I still don't want people stopping by. When I am there, I am working and can't help them anyway.

When I have a business that is walk in friendly, I'll put an address on the cards.

If anyone needs to mail you anything they can call and ask where to mail it, I figure.

What about just naming the city or locality where you work, instead of the actual address. So then you would have web and/or email, phone number, and the locality where folks can find you.

I don't have an address on my cards, but I do have a district on the card. If anyone needs to post anything they can ring up and ask for it, but that hardly ever happens.
I don't want walk ins, so I don't have the address on anything, website/cards/online listings the only thing it is on are my insurance receipts.

By the time you put name, qualifications/modalities, phone number, web site, email address, there's hardly enough room for a full address anyway without it looking cluttered.

I've never put my address on my business cards, either. Nobody has ever questioned it. I go to my clients, and don't want anyone knocking on my door at home. The only place I have printed my address is on my letterhead.

We have both a house/street address and a PO box. Neither are on our cards. Our cards have our names, d/b/a, small logo, phone #, website, and a small listing of our main modalities.

Since I started out doing outcall, I never had my address on my bus. card either. Actually never even considered doing so. I also use a PO box for business too, since our main business is from the home.

Great to know! I kept feeling like I HAD to have some type of address on my cards, feeling like the clients wouldn't like it not being there. But then what good is a PO Box to them anyway.

I could list the city and state, but that is all pretty much on my website which is listed on my cards and brochures.

Alright then, I won't worry about keeping the PO Box and next time I order cards I will leave an address off them.

i've let my PO box go as well for the same reasons.
i'm like most~ i've not had an addy on our card.
(mr. mush & i share a card with both our names on it.)

I'm happy to hear nobody else puts an address on their cards. Because I'm mobile I had the same concern, I didn't want to provide my home address. I track the visitors to my website and I have seen a lot of people go to my contact page but never contact me. I always assumed they were looking for the location I worked out of but when they didn't find one I lost their business. I hope I'm wrong!

If you have a website listed on your card, do you also include your email address, or just assume people will access it via your site if they want to?

I'm trying not to clutter up my card, but if there is a point to having both the site address and email address on the card, I would consider it.

I just looked at a number of bus. cards that are hanging around and all of them have a website but no email addy. I never thought about it as an inconvenience or anything. Just seemed that if I wanted to email them, I would go to the website. Besides, once I have emailed them once, the addy is in my address book, so it is no big deal.

Thanks. My boyfriend did it. I did my business card and brochure first and the site was kind of modeled after them. I told him what I wanted and he made it happen. I need to get some photos up!

I almost put both the email address and the website on the card, but it looked too cluttered. I removed the email address with the assumption that it's easy enough to find on the website. I haven't had any feedback on it at all, so while I am still wondering, I still prefer the cleaner look of less on the card.

Thought about email on cards... I've had no less than 1/2 a dozen people tell me they couldn't figure out how to email me since my email address wasn't on the card. :shock: Yes, my website is on there, and my email address is found in multiple places on my website.

Next cards I have made up WILL have my email address on them.

I have both email and website address listed on my cards. The site I used to make them lets you tweak them as much as you want, I feel that helped to set up the fonts so the card doesn't look too busy.

one idea that i've seen and really like is the idea of listing the surrounding cities in which you have clients. something along the lines of
ABC Massage
Serving Royal Oak, Oak Park, Ferndale & surrounding communities.

that way if someone were to get their hands on your card who doesn't know you or have talked to someone who knows you will have an idea of the area you work in.

i think i'll add my email address on my next card too. i've got the website but people ask for the email specifically.
