Here are the numbers as of today from the government of Canada website. 26,977,663 tests performed, 951,562 cases, 889,850 recovered, 38,922 active cases, 22,790 dead. You can decide what this means. I couldn't find the break down by category but I had seen them a while back and the stats showed that 2 people aged 19 and under died, over 80% of the people who died were in long term care homes and had other health issues.
