I've actually witnessed this. A bunch of indian guys trying to haggle price down with the receptionist. It was so weird. Even if someone managed to get $20 off, they'd pretty much guaranteed be given a shitty session so it's not even a good idea IMO

I've known of several massage parlors refusing service to indian man because they had strong stench of curry.
Other refuse service because they are known to be extremely cheap. I've hear a guy once trying to negotiate an hour massage for $20
He claimed "But I need an hour massage, all I have are $20" LOL

I've seen girls run outside to stop customers because they forgot to pay, forgot to tip and/or to yell at them for tipping nothing or $5.

At a non-happy ending Massage place attendants often complained about serving Indians, Sri lankans and Nepalis because they stank and they tip $2 for massage

There definitely are specific ethnic backgrounds that are used to "haggling" over a price, even a carefully prepared and detailed quote. I can say without reservation that most quotes that are sent to south asian clients result in response "crickets" if you politely decline a ridiculous counter offer for services.

By dictionary definition a stereotype is ... a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

So yes a sterotype is based in a NARROW opinion or experience
