Summer seeking charitable donations . . .

Hi everyone, As some of you may already know, I have been doing some volunteer work at an aged care-facility. It is a high-care facility with a large perceneforum.xxxe of denentia clients. A great deal of these patients eventually loose their mobility and become bed-ridden, do not have family that visits often and they're underfunded. I am hoping people might have 2nd hand or would be willing to purchase some cheap portable cd players that I could donate to the facility. These are used for diversional therapy, and can be put to enormous benefit. Anyone interested in helping please contact me: [email protected]

I've a brand new unopened portable CD player that is currently in storage. I never had a use for it and probably will never have use for it. It's even a Bose. I'm happy to dig it out and give it to you to donate. 2 problems though:

1. It may take me a few weeks to dig it out (I don't live close to the storage location).
2. I don't live in Brisbane.

If you can think of a possible solution, let me know. ile:

Which ones do you mean Summer ? Are you mpter the carry around CD players that have speakers or the CD walkman type that run headphones ?

Hey royce, a cd function and radio would be great, something small and poirtable, but basically anything that makes noise! I'll give you an example of why I'm embarrassing myself by asking! Last time I was there we had a client in for a two week respite. Her husband who was 76 took the oppurtunity to travel interstate to visit relatives as he was her sole carer, and it was hard work with two of us doing everything so I can't blame him. Anyway this poor lady lay in this bed for two weeks with no t.v, no radio, no visitors. The only interaction at all was showering three times a week and being fed thickened fluids three times a day in her room, as she couldn't walk or talk. The only spare radio they had was broken, and I really can't inagine lying in bed day in day out staring at the walls. I guess I feel pretty passionate about this, and I know there is a lot of other caring people out there who would help if they realised too.

i have 2 portible cd radio players, ill dig them out and test them as i have not used these for a few years and if they work ill contact u and if ther are don't work then i will purchase a new player for the cause ile: ile:

i agree with Johnlou, no one should never be embrassed about asking when you are trying to help others. We all should be embarassed if we dont help others in need in some form or another.

Im with Tiff, they arent very expensive, so lets try to get some new ones, maybe a cash donation and then bulk buy somewhr.

Like the other guys have mentioned, it's not an embarrssment to be asking for help in helping others. Wish there was more of this in the world.

I wonder if you could get someone like a local business ( Good Guys for example ) to provide a special discount ( or contribute ) on a bulk buy of these portable CD players if we all chipped in some money towards this ?

Target have players on sale for $39.00 (normally $58) orrrrrr drag yourself into an op shop, you will find all electricals are checked and the sum of approx $10 will get you a cd player!

Summer's apartment has easy parking and I asked her today if I could just "drop and run" ie leave at reception, which she is totally cool with.

We have some cds and a player to donate, I think this is a wonderful idea and I have a few websites I can post this on. It would be good if I knew who was cordinating the effort, probably a regular of Summers would be ideal as I live at logan and can collect for Southside.
Then Reviewom there, I can give them to the city contact.
Please let me know who is organising this as I don't know if I can post email addy on here. I have a Po Box that we can use to collect
cd players at Daisy Hill. Or I don't mind if peeps drop them into my letmassageplanet.netox at home. I really felt your passion in this post, and can imagine it must be tough to end your life so alone and bored. It's so sad.

Thankyou so much everyone for your very generous offers - its lovely for everyone to be so supportive. Its funny really, cause so many people seem to whinge the world is going to shit, but I've never been a cynical person - there really are heaps of awesome people out there! In another week, I will try and co-ordinate a collection point or something of the likes. :grin:
