What the latest York regional bust has to do with the Conservative's gains in this election exists only in the imagination of the dim bulb left. I would be willing to bet that the limp left will soon be spouting off that the winter is somehow a Conservative plot as part of their hidden agenda to keep women in heavy clohing.

Fact is that myself and I would hazard a guess that many other members of massageplanet.net are Conservative. If you look at this from a practical point of view, you will realize that lower taxes means greater disposable income, yielding a greater amount for discretionary spending which can lead to more hobbying.
Of course I would expect that all leftist sheep will continue to send in the same amount of taxes rather than benefit from the conservative conspiracy.

Can't wait for all the bone idle drones from the left to jump in on this one.

We have a Liberal provincial gov't., we have (still) a Liberal federal govt. until the formal transfer of power (I can't wait -- I'm already stuffing my face with beer and popcorn.) Meanwhile, in Richmond Hill, the Liberal MPs (re-elected) are two pathetic trained seal backbenchers. Then there's the Barbie "I am not a whore" Stronach in Newmarket. The point is, it is senseless to whine about Conservatives due to a bust that occurred even before a Conservative victory was official. But then again, smoke and spin is the Liberal way, no?

So, according to your logic, IT must have been doing extras, eh?! I certainly would not be using what you say as a rule of thumb.

Police and politicians operate largely on appearance. An MP that is open late with a neon sign on it appears the same to Mr. and Mrs. Average Canadian whether or not it is providing extras or not. I cannot see either the police or politicians telling the Average Family who complains about a spa "We decided not to close down Spa X" because the scantily-clad staff are only jerking guys off, and in our minds, that is only a "grey area" of the law!"

Sure there are probably court cases about the "greyness" of the law, and there are people who will no doubt fight the charges against them with a good likelihood of success. Regardless though, it is quite clear that some areas of this city are targeting MP's regardless of what is going on.

The point I was trying to make was; that a Conservative Government isn't going to make a difference when it comes to hobbying in terms of LE crackdowns or the amount or level of "extras"... kitaa's comment " Welcum to the New Conservatives" Is a load of crap! I hate to break into the intense political debate but it's likely kitaa's post was meant as a joke. I found it funny. Don't take it seriously, this bust was probably planned before the final election results were in.

As for a big tax cut, well let's look at it logically. With a minority, the Conservatives can only push through a budget containing something like that with the support of either the NDP, Liberals or the Bloc heads.

As with all tax cuts, you then have to examine what will have to be cut out of the budget to pay for them. You don't get money for nothing. We all thought the Harris tax cuts were great until we realized that it resulted in increased municipal taxation loads to pay for services no longer funded by the province.

You either pay for them via taxes or you pay for them out of your own pocket. Tax cuts sound great and look great on your pay cheque until you realize that they end up resulting in cuts to health care, education, infrastructure etc. Then we end up bitching and complaining again.

Do all of you so called Tory supporters remember the last time the Tories were in power. Yes, I remember Canada being in a deep reccession, where the housing market was flat, unemployment queues were the only thing that were growing, along with high interest rates. People were walking away from their own homes. Ontario was hardly creating any jobs. Ontarians were mainly drifting to BC which was having a mini boom (in the service industry). So remember you Tory loud-mouths, that it was this Liberal Government that at least brought you this prosperity. We have a record balance of payments surplus that is the envy of all the industralized nations including our buddies who are on the South of the border. Let's hope this Government (thank God they do not have a majority), acts more responsibly rather than fritter away this hard earned surplus. No, not all of us voted Conservative.

Yes, the sex workers have also thrived since the Liberals came into power. Let's hope that when the Government leaves office, we do not have a repeat performance of the last Tory administration. Yes, they will put pennies in your pockets, that they would have to take away some other way. We would have less to spend in the hobbyist business. If the moral right wing Tories (who may start surfacing in the Government) have their way, your hobbyist days will be numbered!!

Based on old jones asking for no more political comments in this thread I backed off, but I see that one more limp lefty wants to take a shot at the Tories. Go ahead, vent a little now if you want. I say we start taking apart the Canadian social safety hammock right now. Oops missed one day already.

The prosperity Canada has enjoyed of late is not due to the recent liberal gov't but rather the high exports generated by both the Free Trade agreement and a low Canadian dollar. As the American dollar started its freefall our dollar simply got stronger based on oil and other natural resources. Its obvious that even poorly educated semi literate life forms can make money off resources ( middle east as an example) so our overall national ride will continue driven primarily by our neighbours voracious demands. Our manufacturing sector is having a lot tougher go of it with the higher dollar but that slowdown is currently more than offset by the resource sector. Time will tell where the balance point ends but the artificially high tax revenue enjoyed by the Feds during this period while attractive are not sustainable. Any business owner will tell you that its easier to hire staff than let them go and that a program once started can be costly to stop. Over these very prosperous last few years the tax and spend big government ( brother) aspect of Liberal policy has built up a much larger non-productive public sector and created a whole new level of people expecting entitlements such that the slow down will not be pretty.
Those that look to governments for salvation are in for a rude shock.
