Hah I have many hundreds of hours just paddling, so the wrist is just used to pulling. Or pushing with a fist. Trying to bend my wrist back results in extremely sharp and excruciating pain. So bench presses or pushups just around going to happen easily. I am hoping it’s not locked up somehow.

Ok, I will see her this weekend and see what she can do to my wrist.. and my locked ankle from blowing my Achilles too many times gonna be a painful visit. I should book Lily as a follow up to alleviate the pain….

I had a shoulder injury from a bike crash about 10 years ago that I reinsured. After a couple months of her I feel it’s better than ever. She probably broke apart a bunch of scar tissue.

Hah yeah. That’s what I’ve been doing. But having a bad wrist makes it difficult to bench anything more than 140 or 150. It’s just too much pain. Also pushups are impossible unless I have dumbbells or something. That also makes burpees difficult to do.

All we can do is adapt. There’s always a price to pay. So many pro athletes are pretty banged up by the time they retire from their sport

Booked an appointment with Mia this week based on reviews I read and some DMs. I was greeted by Mia who led me to the room and took my door fee ($65).

The place seems very new and definitely justifies the $5 extra for the door fee considering how much they seem to have put into the place. Room was spotless with thick towels and a great in-room shower.

Mia entered as I finished showering and welcomed me with a warm hug. She began the massage with the sheet on and I could tell she definitely knew what she was doing similar to what I had read from other reviews. This only got better when she removed the sheet and began using oil about halfway through. Conversation was good with her throughout - her English isn't the best as she has a heavy accent but definitely understood everything I was saying. I'm a low mileage guy so I opted for a HE and her finish was average. She wasn't too keen on following instructions. Cleaned me up and I proceeded to shower.

On the way out I handed her $50 since she had a good attitude throughout and I was planning to see her again. She then told me it was $60. I told her standard was $40 and she saved face by saying it was because she gave me a "deep tissue" massage. This was complete bs since I had neither requested a deep tissue massage nor is this standard from what I know. Also I've received much harder massages than hers at places like JR so it definitely doesn't justify a higher cost. Keep in mind there was also no touching on my behalf and no other extras involved so a standard $40 tip was all that was warranted.

I regularly and gladly tip $40-$60 for a HE depending on attitude and service but won't give in to bs upcharges just because the attendant feels like it.

I haven't seen this mentioned in other reviews of Mia so perhaps I was unlucky or she thought I wasn't familiar with standard pricing. Just figured people deserved to know. Aside from this, I'd rate the session an overall 7/10.

Your review seems very fair based on the session you experienced. Despite what others have commented, it is very much in line with Mia's genuine personality and massage skills.

Disappointment arose with the tip expected, and clearly you felt $40 was standard price for a basic happy ending and you were being fair and happily were willing to pay her $50. No questioning of your intentions or the validity of your feelings when you thought what was generosity on your part was met with the implication that the opposite was the case when the lady asked for more. I've been there, and recently too, at another spa and the initial double take can be jolting. In my case I thought the lady was taking a shot at me in particular as a first time client and as someone who had been quite complimentary throughout the session.

Her disappointment arose with her belief that the entirety of her service was worth $60 tips over the hour. I have seen her regularly and often and I tend to come down on her side when it comes to what her services are worth. I have had sessions where she skipped the happy ending because she was dealing with a particular therapeutic issue, in my case a wonky shoulder, and even then I tip her for her time and usually equivalent to the room fee or more. I do believe she sees herself as a talented masseuse and as you note, she knows what she is doing. As for harder massages elsewhere, and your JR example is more than reasonable, the pressure is not necessarily the marker of skill or effectiveness in my case. But there is nothing in anything you say that isn't fair from your own experience.

I think what we have here is a failure to communicate, or rather a difference of opinions regarding expectations. I hope you will take my opinion here as sincere, you come across as a reasonable and respectful person and I wouldn't deny your right to your own feelings about your session. All I would say is that I strongly doubt Mia was trying to up-charge you (in particular), I believe that what she asked is what she expects and usually receives for an hour session like yours. I know for a fact she takes pride in her skills, but also that her language skills are less than you might have felt, I find when she replies we are at about a 50% chance of talking about the same thing I thought we were. So I know she gets frustrated at times when trying to converse real time.

The decision to not repeat is yours, and value for money is entirely subjective. My only aim here is to dispel the notion others imply (not you) that there was some sort of deception or cheating involved. I think your review helps in that regard by honestly presenting your massage experience, and what her expectations are for her tips over an hour. Good luck hobbying and finding value and satisfaction in your sessions!

I agree - I've noticed this with a few of my more recent sessions throughout the last year or so. Generally, many ladies seem more intent on securing a high tip rather than aiming for repeat clients where service levels increase naturally and therefore the tips as well. Not to mention, repeats are the essence of this business. Whether it's clients tipping below standard rates more often now (thereby providers trying to make up the difference with other clients), the high inflation economy we find ourselves in now, or simply more legit ladies coming to the semi-legit side to make extra cash, something seems to have changed in the market recently. Whatever the reason, what you said remains true: it leaves a bad taste in the mouth despite an otherwise decent session.

I understand where you're coming from here, and I myself have regulars with whom certain allowances are made from time to time from my side in terms of service expectations that vary from session to session - they may have had a particularly bad client right before me or are simply having a bad day and need a break - but I would say the general sentiment among clients is an expectation of consistency between sessions. I've heard many stories where providers lower their service levels due to the comfort that comes with familiarity with a repeat client and take advantage. Of course, I'm not saying this is the case with you. Just something to bear in mind as it can become a slippery slope.

The only issue I have with what you're saying about her entire service being worth $60 for an hour session is that it creates undue pressure on the client in terms of tipping expectations and the industry as a whole. It dips into the indy market mentality where providers are free to determine their own rates for everything. If a lady is working at a spa, clients defer to market rates for tipping expectations and any variance from that should, in my opinion, be communicated clearly to the client beforehand. Of course, a $20 difference isn't the end of the world, it just leaves a sour tone to the whole interaction. At the end of the day though, it's self balancing: clients will just self filter if they deem her to be charging too much and likewise, clients such as yourself who deem her to be worth it will continue to see her.

Perhaps you're right. I would only say that something in her eyes shifted when I mentioned that the standard for what I received was a $40 tip. To me, it was the look of being called out which is why she mentioned the "deep tissue" massage as a justification. But I will admit cultural differences and lack of familiarity with her could mean it could just as easily have been a look of exasperation, annoyance, etc.

Yup, 100%. As always, businesses that sell a service rather than a product will always have variance due to factors like chemistry, loyalty, rapport, etc. Hence YMMV is the name of the game.

On a side note, thanks for your contributions throughout the years and all the intel you've provided. You hold true to your signature, that's for sure. One of the few who still knows how to write and express themselves properly.

I give it to her though, she was quite direct with me stating if you want mileage she's not the one to look for. I humbly replied, if I wanted mileage I wouldn't be here, I just want a good massage. She lightened up a bit after that.

Her massage is definitely up there with the best of them. Her finish isn't the greatest. Lots of girls nearby that can do great massages and a better finish.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt and repeated a few more times. I will state tho after a few repeats, she became more comfortable with me and since has always been very polite and sweet. Never lazy on the massage and always eager to show off her skills.
One time even extending our session as she said she needed to work out the stiffness in my shoulders.

I don't believe she's tip hungry, but she definitely needs to work on her attitude to first time clients. Or maybe she thought I was a pervert i don't know.

Reading another review of Amy today, I think that lots of guys try to get fs from them. I imagine that gets aggravating and annoying all the time

I have seen Mia (Cherry) a few times. She is pleasant and pretty. Not a ton of conversation but she has gone out of her way to ensure the massage is always to my liking. She has identified problem spots and tried to work on them accordingly.

I've seen tons of semi-girls over the past 10 years and regular RMTs, her massage is comparable to a RMT and one of the best in the game. HJ is reasonable but not her selling point. No body-slide.

If I ever feel a girl's price point is too high for my liking, I usually tip and never return; girls cannot survive in this business without regulars and they learn that quick. But I think myself and others don't mine tipping 60$ for RMT level massage and HJ from an attractive lady given it is cheaper or comparable to what I would pay at a legit spot (with likely a less attractive person and no extras).
