The shots are meant to do a couple of things: 1) protect the person from the severe affects if thy get the flu; and 2) help reduce the transmission of the flu from person to person.

The flu can spread like a wildfire in schools and the kids can then take it home to the parents. Getting kids the shot helps reduce that from happening

I didn't go because there were so much uncertainty (i.e. whether they will book me an appointment for second shot, what type of vacinne). I was like, meh. I can wait a couple more weeks.

Usually kids do not need to get shots because they have a growing and robust immune system. By being exposed to something their immune system kicks in and builds its own defenses. This is better than getting a shot in most cases as it helps their immune system develop. For the flu I thought the people who were encouraged to get the shot were elderly and those with a compromised immune system.

Yes, I had side effects that are consistent with VITT - I am a healthy 50 year old, and I should not be having this, so I blame in the AZ shot. While I felt tired the day of the shot, and had the common sore arm the next day, what I didn't expect was blurry vision for the next two weeks. I still don't think it's back to normal yet as I find myself squinting alot and making my screen font bigger.

It's moot point now anyways since they have put it on the shelf in Ontario, likely since so many people were experiencing side effects. I know this for sure - I will NOT be getting AZ as a second shot.

The only stupid people here are those that think that their grade 10 science education, a Wal-Mart microscope and a Toys R Us chemistry set are comparable to those of the scientists who've dedicated their lives to studying vaccines. Luckily for us, they know what's in it, there have been peer reviewed clinical studies and it's WHO/FDA approved.
