The Leyva is adequate but the Hotel Santiago which is just one block east of Adelita's/CC on Calle Coahuila is much better (in my humble opinion).

their are least dozen black guy who hit the zona on 3-5 times week, betting on sports in alley caliente and fucking putas..

they move freely without too much problems and putas like black guys since they tip well..

anyone will get serched in zona rojo and thats not a big deal..

I don't think you will have any problems. I have several black aquaintences that frequent the zona....some stay at the leyva that logansbro mentioned.

First time down you should go with a friend no matter what color/race you are. Simple fact is it's easier to have a good time in a new enviroment with the extra bit of comfort that comes with having a buddy to share it with. As for the danger aspect, I would not be concerned, providing you stick to the beaten path. The reality is that those that would look for a person to hassle/fight/rob, are not going to look for someone that may fuck them up a bit in the process. Being large, I assume you would fit that profile. The overwhelming majority of drama I've witnessed has been cop on local (druggie/drunk/bandito). And the only cop trouble for me, has been while driving.

Yes, if you go by yourself you are a target. If you go stay in the clubs. If you walk around by yourself you can be a target by the Cholos from Barrio Logan. Many Cholos from that Barrio hang out in the Zona for Business,entertainment.

Okay, this may be a dumb question but I will ask it any way. I have never been to TJ and I am thinking of taking my first trip there in a couple of weeks. The thing that I am worried about is first off I am a very big guy. And second I am black. I have been hearing lately that there is alot of tension between hispanics and blacks, and I know that the combination of my size and color will make me stand out. So, I was wondering if it is safe for me to take a trip or should I stay home. Thanks for any info.
