Anyone using Facebook professionally?

I saw that someone who had a different kind of page than me (not a "fan" page) somehow was able to add info about the business. I still don't know what they did to make that work....

It depends on how you list your business. When I created my fan page, I listed under "pets" which didn't give me all the same availability to add info as another type (such as "education" for example). I ended up deleting the page and creating a group. A page is set up more for broadcasting whereas a group is intended to foster discussion. Either way the discussion aspect isn't happening the way I'd like. I use FB as a way to educate in general about massage and other healing modalities (as well as who I am and what I do). At this point, I wish I had just created a FB account for my business (instead of personal) because I think that gives the most flexibility with adding info, photo albums, and links, etc.

You can add a link tab by going into the editing function of your page. Not sure you have the ability to organize beyond that though. The links show up in the order that you post them. The other way to organize is to start discussions on your links, etc.

I LOVE facebook! I have 2 FB accounts for the 2 places I work, and I have already booked appointments from them! I love being able to set links for certain techniques, products, etc that pertain to my client base. After a session I search for the clients email and add them as a friend, I ususally send a message like "Hi this is so and so from Blank Spa, I have a professional fan page on FB and would love if you would accept my request. I occasionally post specials and links for massage info, and you can also contact me this way for appointments.." etc you get the gist. There is nothing cooler than seeing a post on your wall like "That massage was AWESOME" with a bunch of people "liking" it. =)

Thanks for the extra info. I do have the ability to add the links in the order they are posted with my "professional" page, but what I am looking for is a way to add links in a list. All MD's, all DC's, all MT's, all food and drink, all whatever... if that makes sense.

I'll pm you my page so you can see how I have done it for now in the "Discussions" tab and maybe you will have a better idea.

You're welcome. I gotcha about the list and yes it makes sense...I haven't seen that ability with the page links/tab. Some of the fancier pages, with large well-known companies (Survivor for example) seem to have A LOT of flexibility and enhanced capabilities...maybe they are paying for those pages?

Anyone using Facebook professionally?

I have FB personal & business accounts & I love it!
I have gotten a few (two, I believe) clients so far from my Massage Haven page. Many of my clients are fans and rather than using it to get new clients, I use it to stay in touch, send reminders, post (only excellent!) inspirational quotes and basically get new information out to existing clientele.

I think that people are so busy and sometimes taking care of yourself (booking a massage!) gets pushed to the back burner. My posts remind people that I am here and bring me to the forefront of their thoughts, if even for the moment

Every now and again, I include my online booking link to make booking an appointment super easy.

I get so excited when I see I have a new fan, I think it is just one more way of being connected with people. I am careful that I don't become annoying and over-post.
