I go to massage to escape home and work, as well to get un-knotted or knotty, depending on the circumstances. Plus the relaxation provided by a warm, low lit room with soothing music is difficult to emulate with a mobile solution.

Yes I agree with this, I look for a nice setting when i go for massage. And I love creating a nice space for clients. But unfortunately I no longer have a location, and I'm toying with the idea of mobile services if I go back to doing massage.

I agree with post from Spexx. I enjoy the environment provided by the masseuse, especially if they provide an all encompassing space/music/lighting vibe. Also, I think the increased overhead of having your own space would out-weigh the additional time and hassle of travelling to clients, carrying all your gear, and a table, sometimes upstairs.

I understand that working out of your home has a lot of negatives, but finding a small room in a commercial building may provide a buffer (original Sunny comes to mind, older building, and she has a regimented schedule) I'm not sure, but I believe this is what you have tried just lately, but perhaps overhead was too high.

Lack of the right space at the right price, yes. And I worked limited hours...so I pay for a full time space but would work part time hours.

And I've worked from home in the past, just don't have the space anymore, plus downsides of inviting people into my house.
I did do mobile in a smaller town before, I didn't mind it. The gear isn't a huge issue, the table is designed for it.

I recently stopped massage and closed my space due to health, but when I go back to it...I'm just wondering if I should try to find a space again, be stuck in a lease etc...or try mobile for a bit.

I'm sure you've looked at all options, but possibly a room for rent in an existing salon/aesthetics spa might be a viable alternative. I'm sorry to hear that your health has affected your livelihood. Massage is definitely a profession where you need your 'A' game. A friend of mine has been a masseuse for 15 years, and she can only see a couple of people a day now. Very physically taxing.

Possibly get involved with a top quality hotel sweety. They would take their cut, but you wouldn’t have a monthly commitment

I have booked mobile when staying in a hotel. Prefer spa or private setting however.
There are some spas that will allow a RMT to book a room partial time (by the massage). You have to find a way to contact the owner, not the receptionist-manager. I thought I had seen something like that months ago in Edmonton in a Kijiji ad (they were also advertising on behalf of the masseuses in their program).
