As discussion is on the signature on the charge slip of credit card, I wish to add here based on experience.

As someone has already said, the credit card transactions in India are authenticated by pin and no customer signature needed on the same.

Incidentally I have a credit card of non Indian bank and whenever I pay by that card, the pin is not asked and invariably the merchant asks for my signature on the charge slip.

Once I disputed a transaction which I did on my domestic credit card in a spa which was actually a cheating / fraud by the merchant. I didn't sign the charge slip though I entered the pin when the merchant stepped the card for much higher than the agreed amount. However, the credit card bank, when complained, came back saying they have escalated the issue and found that I was present at the location during the transaction and hence no dispute was rejected. I went into argument however their stand has been the same. As pin was entered, the transaction can't be disputed as it comes to that.

Thanks. At least I got to know that signature isn’t required by the CC companies, although the merchants still continue to ask for it.

Ironically, Walmart, Target, etc. they all still ask for signature on the terminal pad during checkout.
To be honest, I haven’t tried not signing. I need to see what happens.

These type of merchants may not require signature (when they actually stop asking for it) because they have camera right in front of the checkout counter. So signature doesn’t matter in this case as we are clearly captured. The time of transaction, time of customers presence in front of the camera and the camera footage is enough to prove it wasn’t a fraud transaction.

This isn’t the case in restaurants and especially DB’s (unless they have cameras inside that clearly captures the patrons using CC). Don’t see it working in semi lit SB/DB even with cameras.

The chip in CC removed fraud transaction because it’s difficult to duplicate the CC with chips. That’s why the mode of fraudulent I mentioned was using the card but by someone else, who stole it, etc.

To summarize - If a DB/SB doesn’t ask me to sign the receipt, I would accept the challenge to successfully dispute the charge - that too with proof. Because here they won’t have my signature and no camera footage too in their favor.

Even if they have inside camera footage, I wonder if they can use it showing 30 bar girls illegally serving customers.

And how such a footage could be used in a police case too.

In November, I’d try asking SB/DB’s that don’t require signatures ;-)

I have a doubt if coatwala & waiters who keep a watch on such cash transactions directly to girls do ask for a cut for the bar.

Once I saw a girl passed on Rs 500 note that I gave to her - giving immediate to the coatwala. I don't through if it was for safe keeping or for bar cut or anything else.

Yes, bar girls prefer us paying directly to her. If we order bundle, the bar will cut some percentage (usually 40%). And then from rest 60% girl will get 80% or something.

On my last day, I got 2k notes from ATM instead of 500. Went to Deepika and made Rubina dance. Started with 2k for 3-4 songs. She looked around and put the note inside her blouse. I understood what’s going on.

From then on, I was giving her the 2k notes when no waiters were around us. In between I was also keeping 500 note on her phone so that waiters don’t suspect.

That day I understood why waiters surround our table and keep watching us. It is to keep track of this kind of Jugalbandi that bar girls do!

sorry to interrupt...y wud u not spend on ladies drinks in a ladies bar. remember it's the norm to do so. in such bars, it's ok for a customer to drink water but a ladies drink in a ladies bar is her drink or rather say her source of income, apart from other tippable pleasures she offers to customers.

I think this is the attitude v most Indians carry to Pattaya n other famous mongering destinations, resulting in all Indians getting banned from the bars there.

so if u want to enjoy in a ladies bar anywhere in the world, have a budget for ladies drinks equal to ur number of drinks + tips for other pleasures.

Its difficult. All girls will ask for drink in SB and DB. They earn from it.

Asking them to share your drink is a way to minimise the damages. Other way is to give them 50% cash of their drinks amount. This way you save 50%. This is assuming girl would be getting 50% of her drinks cost if you order one for her.

Either way, their job is to extract money from you. I too consider these girls deserve a drink from each customer they see. Its fair enough to pay for a drink and the standard hourly rate to SB girls when visiting them.

The aim should not be to find girls who don’t drink. The aim should be to find good service girls who don’t pester for drinks or who don’t drink like fish.

Having said that - Above mentioned two ways do work. And can be applied anytime in a bar.

Success rate of sharing beer is less if you are new to the bar or the girl.

Success rate of handing over cash (instead of girls cut on her drinks) is more.

I personally would combine both for maximum output, unless I’m planning to drink like a fish.

My take on how to save money while mongering :-

1. Mongering itself and more so DB/OB, etc is all about spending money, if you want to enjoy , you got to spend, right? Why to be anxious when a girl asks for drinks, money etc, its their livelihood and our enjoyment. If you are anxious you will enjoy less and if girls aren't happy you will enjoy less. So let the money and drinks flow !!


2. Contrary view, if I have limited budget then what to do ? In this case your options are :-

- be stingy, shamelessly stingy given that it doesn't make you anxious or feel bad about yourself

- limit the mongering so that you are within your budget without being stingy

- or be lucky to get someone or a place which gets you all you desire, less spend and more enjoyment. Either you have to be lucky here or you will end up exploring more to find such places which ultimately mean that you come out at stingy in each place you visit, and you also end up spending more since you have been exploring many places.

Apologies for this gyan. With my very limited visits to DB and OB I have never been able to say no to anyone asking money and have never felt bad about it, in fact I felt good handing over money to waiters etc . Have a nice day and evening everyone

Very true, we Indians and chinese are like that. Pattaya is particularly been ruined for Indians who want to enjoy with decent spend. And now there are specific Indian joints catering to Indian travelers. It's ironic that people want to have pussy while visiting such places but they also want to save their money, how moronic !!

Bhai which bank is this?

I have credit card of almost all the banks in India but each require pin authentication.
Only American Express card require to sign slip with no pin number needed but it's valid for only first transaction after that I asked to put pin every time.
Just want to know which bank in India still use the sign method for credit card?

Bhai the usual sharing ratio for OB girls is 60:40 and DB 50:50 usually the owners don't pay more than that. In some OB the orchestra organiser supplies the girls too there the sharing ratio is less. The owners won't leave a single penny in which they have share which u give to girl in bar premises so forget what u give directly to girl only the gifts which u give to girl in bar doesn't have any bar share.

Rather reduce your mongering frequency. You have to assume at least the following expenses when you go SB mongering. If there is a constraint avoid mongering on those days.
Drinks - 1000 to 1200
Girl - 500 to 1000 (30 to 45 mins)
Tips - 100 to 200 (Coatwala and Waiter)
Watchman - 20 to 50
So min budget has to be 1700 to 2500

True that. In the US in a normal bar customers are generally expected to tip 10% of the bill amount at least. I have seen so much resistance and pain among Indians while doing so that it makes you feel really embarrassed. One of my team members used to ask his US project manager for cab fare in cash to go back home from a party. That would be barely 6 dollars. It created a really bad impression. Soon the Americans stopped taking the Indian group for parties with them.

No cannot avoid drink for lady....lady has to make more bills from customers for bar owner....in order to save money, suggest you can have your drink in normal bar where price are cheaper than db, sb, ob....ek baar nasha chad gaya....go to bar and order drink for lady only, for namesake, you can keep glass in front of you to show that you are also drinking. Once fun is over pay to lady and your bill, come out. Also suggest lady not to drink fast...fast to make more bill, instead make her understand that u will give more tip to her if she try to save money in making bill. Bill increase karne mein na lady ka fayda hai na customer ka.
