Your favorite Gift to give Clients

Thought it might be fun to share some of the things we all do for our clients above and beyond the massage/bodywork to let them know we are thinking of them and as a "THANK YOU". It might also inspire others for new ideas..... (I am looking for a few )

Just a few things I like to do for new clients and thank you's for regulars. Besides occasionally throwing in something special in their session they were not expecting, ie: (hot stones for a treat, steam the face and feet, aromatherapy if I know they like it, etc. ) I like to make aromatherapy body/room sprays to give out, pretty candle holders with candles wrapped in netting and tied with rapphia, relaxation cd (can find these at discount, 1.00 stores a lot) Massage/lotion bars, to name just a few things. I just put these things all wrapped up pretty in a basket and let them choose what they want. Fun to have them leave with something.

Looking for some new creative ideas. I would love to hear about all the goodies everyone else offers, always inspiring and fun to share. Our clients are after all what keep us going, they are worth the extra things we do to make them feel special.

Jules, I totally agree and must say your clients are very lucky for your thoughtfulness.

I must admit I don't do anything on a regular basis. I give out candles and body lotions occasionally. At Christmas I tend to give out handmade soaps, handpainted ceramic angels or smoked turkeys.

I've been toying with creating a "New Client" Package which would have a lot of extra info in it -- but I haven't sat down to do it yet.

I do know someone on the board bakes fresh cookies for her clients which, if I had an oven nearby would be something I would do because I think that is very cool!

Great thread! I'm interested to know what some of our other members do for their clients.

I also was pretty excited about the bottle of water I give. I also include a packet of Yogi tea, clients like the different blends of joint comfort, womens tea, bedtime tea and many more, sometimes I give a Sombra sample, or a sample of Our Father's Healing Herb salve, Soothing Touch will also send samples of their product which I give if I have used that particular product, cd's to my regular clients on occasion, a tea light, but I like the idea of wrapping it in netting and letting the client choose what they would like. Keep the ideas coming. For Christmas I am giving out 2 oz containers of Soothing Touch Brown Sugar Scrub with a ribbon and cinnimon stick on top with my sticker on the container.

For christmas every year I make homemade candy. White chocolate with crushed candy canes. Melt it up and put it in molds (or just break it up). The clients love it and look forward to them every year.

Occasionally I will ask a client for the use of their "body" when trying out something. Free to them of course.

I like to give little gifts for events in clients lives. Housewarming, baby, weddings etc. Usually they are relaxation cds, or spa products. I like the Bath Teas from MW.

When I was seeing a particular Reiki practitioner, she would ocassionally ask me to pick out a stone from her bowl of tumbled stones...I loved that. She would have me pick whichever one I was drawn to, plus I could hang out for a nice cup of tea and browse her books before the culture-shock of being thrown back into reality, lol.

Actually Robyn, I have a client who came to me regularly while I was at the salon I used to work for. And came to me not long ago at my new location proudly proclaiming as I handed her a bottle of "water to go", something I couldn't do at the salon, "You're the Only Massage Therapist I've ever been to that told me to drink water after a massage! And you've told me that from my very first massage!" Funny, isnt' it, it's like she uses that as a benchmark of how good they are. LOL

Not sure how much of it has to do with my manual skills... and how much of it's just taking into consideration her comfort! LOL

I always give my birthdays a gift bag with a bottle of bath and bodyworks massage oil ( I got 15 of them from a $1 store!!!) and a little candle and they always think that it is the greatest thing ever!! If I may make a sugestion, GO TOTHE LOCAL $1 STORE!! We are always talking about inexpensive ways to do things for our clients and this is a great place to get stuff, I even get my gift bags for all seasons there! YOu can even get the water, candles, lotions, tea light holders, soaps, anything! Oh and Intuitouch, I have been giving out new clients packages for a while! My clients love them! I put in there, a welcome letter thanking them for there buisness and about my packages and referal discounts, I also include, a free one hour GC and if it comes back they get a free one, a follow up care sheet, a magnet card and regular buisness card, a brocure, and a copy of my newsletter. Once again, I got a bunch of folders from the $1 store and put everything inside! Oh and here is the last of my drawn out post, I also give my clients at the end of summer a free salt scrub on their back or feet which ever they want, it is a great thing and they always ask for more! ok I am done!

Just want to make sure I read this right...you are giving a free hour GC for your new client to give to someone else and if it is redeemed you then give the person who gave it to someone else a free hour GC too?

yup your right! I give the new client a free one hour gc and they give it to someone, if it gets redeemed I give the giver a free one hour as well, I might also add the the free gc only has a 3 month expiration date!! can't make it that long, Iwould go out of buisness!!

I have been thinking about this for some time ---- and love the suggestions.

I always trot down to the ice and water machine and bring the client a cup with or without ice after a massage, along with the instruction to drink more water for the rest of the day. The trouble is ---- I sometimes forget between the massage room and the ice machine which they prefer..... I get zoned too, I guess. When I was in private practice, I gave a bottle of water which was more portable ---

I love the idea of bath teas, candles, etc. I particularly love the rock selection. I'll be making up my own basket of little goodies for giveaways with my thanks to all who contributed ideas! What a great forum this is!

I'm the cookie baker and my clients love it!! When I do corporate massage {about every 8 weeks} I make up little bags. Last time I decorated small white bags with a simple moss green lace edging on it and a small shell hot glued on the lace. Inside I place my business card, any new special I'm unveiling, and a few chocolates/caramels. For Nov. I've purchased mittens and each client gets one. It will be filled with a cookie and my Christmas special. They must find the mitten mate and donate the pair to their job or church clothing drive.

I hope they enjoy my gifts. They usually look forward to seeing what I'm up to!! I really like to have the reflective nature of the gift be loveingkindness towards them or to others, but then...I think we all do that and we're so fortunate to be in a profession that embraces that concept.

Well, they are a little pricey IMO, but I always thought Haagen Dazs gift certificates would be a nice idea. I used to put them in Christmas cards for friends and family.

Your clients are doing something good for their bodies by getting massage...I think great food is good for the soul.

We make little bags of epsom salts to give away after every massage - just a cup of salt in a cellophane baggie, tied together with curly ribbon. I always offer a bottle of water, unless I forget! mmmmmm Haagendazs, I think I'll get some of those for myself

For my first christmas in business I bought some sets of handblown glass ornaments from an LTD catalog (AWESOME company!!) I wrapped them in tissue paper and put in a organza gift bag (also from LTD). since LTD has verrrry reasonably prices and the bags and ornaments were ordered by the group it was pretty reasonable. Clients loved them and they looked great in a basket by the door. Everyone with an appt. for a couple weeks before xmas got to choose one.

last year for my regulars I tied two gourmet hot cocoa pkgs with beautiful ribbon and put them in funky looking, coffee house style mugs from the $1 store. I attached a note - "Warm and cozy wishes from Tranquil Blue Massage" *I guess hot coco makes me feel all warm and cozy so i thought it worked.

i really love that mitten idea!

PS I just went through my new oriental trading catalog and found some cute ornaments - snowflakes, stars etc. a couple that I looked at were $5.95 per doz or $11.95 per doz. not a bad deal! oriental trading also has lots of fun packaging - treat bags and boxes etc. Just passing that on!

I give gifts in slower months of the year -- book a massage, get a present. Usually the gift is a small version of the rice hotpacks I sell; my mother makes them & puts them in a cover sewn of her handpainted fabric. Clients can choose a little ricebag (about eyepillow size) or a $3 coffee-hut card (I have a deal going with the owner of a small local coffeehut chain -- I trade a massage for a big discount on the cards). It's gone over well so far! I like presents better than discounts, and doing it just every so often keeps people's interest piqued, I think.
