when did i say i went to safari with no money, if the truth be known i spent all my money on the girl in question and her friends in safari so read the post correctly before you shout you mouth off, thats where my money went, and my bill in the restaurant later was a mere 300 bht which was stupid of me not to have.
I never on purpuse made a habbit of not having money on me, it was just a stupid situation i got into.
I learned from my mistakes, i.ve already admitted that, these mad me a better person. the trip in question was years ago, jesus give me a break, sorry i said anything. I was just trying to make the point that when you get travellers in their 20's drinking like maniacs(like i was before some brainbox suggests it) trouble arises and behaviour can be abysmal, and this happens in patong or any holiday destination for that matter, you know that.

another correction for ya, my last 2 trips were brilliant and involved no alcohol and i was in no trouble, i seen plenty of trouble in nightclubs,food stalls, and on mainstrip bangla.On one particular occasion i avoided trouble before it kicked off, but that was about it. I love my holidays now and i get on fine for the month im there.

I wont even comment on your sterotypical remark about non-drinkers in ireland, makes you look like the KNOB!

I`ve heard many people say that in Thailand when you think everything is all good, hell can break lose, and when you think shit is about to hit the fan, nothing happends

been in a couple of nasty situations, but never developed to anything real serious...

So the question is, what is the danger signs? when to know to get away?
I get the impression if trouble with thai people they will smile to you up to the point things has got out of hand...

In my experience its the same guys who get into trouble abroad that get into trouble at home, drinking all day every day, the hot weather the hotter girls etc, it's too much for some lads. I didn't see a hint of trouble there, my only experience with the police was a checkpoint when I was getting a taxi back to Karon. Lucky the driver was legit and had a taxi license, I had a copy of my passport in my back pocket, he waved us through after asking the driver a few questions. Just goes to show, there's loads of guys in Phuket who aren't taxi drivers at all, could have been some bother if the guy didn't have a license.

When to get away? Well best not to put oneself in a situation where you'd need to get away, this is acheived by being peaceful, respectful and not too drunk, this will for the most part work wonders with both male and female population.

If you should find yourself in the proximity of a lowlife shouting for his mates to no fault of yours? Good time to get away.

If you should decide to ignore my first advice re respectful and not move or stay away when a tg tells you to, best make sure no empty bottles in reach, or full ones for that matter.

For stories, well I've managed to stay safe through the years but I've seen a few and had to take a girl to the emergency for stitches after she bottled an italian "stud" that got too frisky in Tiger, she managed to cut herself poor thing..

The bottle was after 2 warnings and at that point she just beat me to it, the whole hospital experience was pretty fun though but thats another story, lets just say it involved a MJ smoking security guard jacking a dog off and a weirdly large Tweety getting an exam in the emergency room.

Even the poor fecker brought in with no skin on his leg after a mb accident thought that was pretty funny..
