As for Trump, i agree with everyone here. However, I fear he will win again just as he did in 2016. As one Republican pundit said on CNN last week, the polls don't matter because a large portion of Trump supporters do not admit publicly they vote for him, but in the sanctity of the voting booth they will. He was uber confident that Trump will win easily and his logic is sound. Sigh.

I for one have some confidence that our American brethren will rally to kick this orange douchebag rich-kid brat out. Some rational brave voices are becoming more and more persuasive, such as Republican Voters Against Trump. Otherwise we should fear the worst.

Not true. Ford pardoned Nixon, who hadn’t been charged, only accused. The only accepted limit on presidential pardon is for impeachment. Only the Senate can do that. The point you made about local or state crimes is valid. That’s why I suggested the SDNY prosecutors handle his business issues.

Ok, yes Ford pardoned Nixon. But, do you think the potential crimes are even comparable? Trump has questions around his taxes and source of funds. Do you think Pence would pardon Trump if there is even the remotest possibility that Trump was compromised financially by a foreign power? He’d be viewed as having previous knowledge and was acting as an accessory. I don’t like Pence or his policies, but I do believe he’s actually a good man and one who cares about the country over Trump and wouldn’t act in such a situation. He knows a pardon without a fair trial would divide the country further. And I’m not sure if an interim President gets Secret Service protection for life as well as those elected or if he’s left on his own.

I do hope you are wrong, for the sake of the US. I expect there will be violence, regardless of the outcome, but it is my hope that it is limited. Perhaps this is the wake up call they need to take steps to not only create a true democracy, but to protect it going forward.

I woke up a couple of hours ago, did a quick check of the CNN News website and found out that President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19. My first reaction was one of schadenfreude, a German word for taking pleasure in the misfortune of others. This man who has so much power and influence but has done so little while so many have suffered and died, now faces the possibility of real consequences for his indifference and irresponsibility. A few minutes ago, I read of the well wishes made by some of Trump’s harshest critics. Some of this is of course insincere moral posturing, but it did induce in me a little shame. I am not religious, but my Catholic upbringing does influence my morality – we are all children of God, hate sin but love the sinner, be the bigger person. I am not there yet.

I am with you brother. Who am I to judge? But I do. My RC upbringing helps shapes my decisions. But Trump?

He represents everything that is wrong and evil in position of power. Should he pass on, he will turn in to a Martyr. If he comes back, he will be a hear. If he wins the election, he will become king. If he doesn't win, he will blame China!

Right now I am taking pleasure in his misfortune!
