I think I remembered that Relax & Rejuvenate does this and endorses positive results with this form of advertising. Does anybody else out there do this, such as with Ads by Google? I was looking into it yesterday & it seems like a good idea. I'm going to give it a try.Also...do any of you register with places like SpaFinder, iWantamassage or spagirls or massageclassifieds, etc? I've registered with a few places like iwantamassage.com that were free (I think the ones you listed charge, I don't remember), and didn't see a positive result from THAT site, but it did seem to increase my google page rank and helped get me on the top of the lists with search engines. That may be of more help than the actual website, because it's easier to search for "massage, city, state" than it is to search for "i want a massage".I've heard a LOT of good about the pay-per-click ads by google, but first you need to find out if it's worth the potential investment. If your website generates a significant amount of your business, then it would be beneficial. If you're not seeing the greatest results from your website, it's best to first alter your website until it starts getting you business, then do the pay-per-click ads. Try to get your site in the top of the search engine lists first to see what potential your website has in getting business, then later invest in internet advertising. Just a suggestion.

Thank you Jeff. Okay then, what steps could I take to improve my website to do this? I recently made some small changes, as you all suggested in the "Post Your Website" thread. We did a search for us on MSN & Google yesterday & we are present, only top when you type in exactly our keywords, etc. I'm on a huge marketing/advertisg kick right now, so thanks for any suggestions, especially in the cyber arena.Jill/Sagetherapist

Well, from looking at the page after the splash page, I see the main content. Not really much content there, and the address is not listed. What you want to do is have the keywords that will most likely get your site found (such as massage, gilbert, arizona, az, etc.) and make sure your content matches the keywords as often as possible. Find as many creative ways to put the words "massage, gilbert, arizona" into the content of EACH of your pages as possible. Something like "Here at Gilbert Bodyworks, your favorite place to visit for massage, facials, and other spa treatments in Gilbert Arizona, you are sure to have a pleasant experience" etc. Something that tells what it is you do, yet something that matches the keywords that you want people searching for. The main thing to find out is what you want people to put in the search engine to find you, then build your keywords and content around that.

I use the google pay per click ads on my website.  The website isn't massage, but I do get a little bit of a profit off of it.It's free to join and easy to put up.  That ads change all the time with advertisments relating to your website and area you live in.  Right now I'm averaging about .50 per day.  The more web traffic you get the better your chances of getting clicks.  Try to blend in the ads to look like part of your webpage.  Google gives you hints on where to place the ads.  You won't make allot of money off of this, not unless you have allot of websites and different advertisors like google.  Then once you have made about 100.00 or more google with directly deposit the money into your account.

"Splash" is the home page, or first impression, right? I see what you mean about the content page... I had just thought of it more as a space to keep a renewing letter to visitors. I could keep that, but add a header that contains the keywords & leave that in place. Is this correct? Thank you very much, Jeff. I appreciate it!

You have to be careful and monitor your listings frequently, especially if you are in a major city - you can wake up and find $100 worth of clicks in no time!#1 - find the right key words. Everything will come up that you put into the search field, but that is not necessarily how everyone searches. Hint - no one calls massage "massage therapy" when they search. You can be #1 in your city under MT, but you won't get many clicks. Massage listings get lots of wasted clicks from perverts looking for an escort#2 - the more you are willing to pay - both per click and daily budget - puts you out their more often.#3 - No one clicks on anything after the top 3 listings#4 - Pay a company to optimize your key word codings on your website pages to get free placement in search results#5 - Don;t forget to do seasonal key words for holiday gifts, mom's day, V-day etc.

By Splash page, I mean your index.html page. When you go to your website, by typing in the url (website.com), it automatically brings you to your index page. On your site, the index page is called a "splash" page, in that it doesn't have content, but more of a welcoming page. With your content, if you're wanting your website to be more of a way to keep your current clients informed on what's going on and still generate business from it, you may want to put up a "news" page, and tell your clients they can find out what's new from that page, and have more client-generating content on your main home page. Do most of your clients visit your website to see what's new?

i briefly had a pay per click ad on google. it worked like a charm. almost every time you typed in the key words i chose, my business listed first. however, in two days, i had 17 clicks and no appointments were scheduled. i have sinced paused the ad, since i cannot really afford $10/day with no return. i read the article about the lawsuit... and i had wondered prior to reading it, if less ethical advertisers would click on my ad to make it inaccessible for the day. once i found out how these ads work, i stopped clicking on them... i just manually type in the url now.
