The current local impression that we have a terrible health service is quite amazing, and I for one am extremely happy that I am in Australia and not overseas as we do in fact have one of the best health systems of any country - including all those lovely nurses, serving us either in the traditional or more personal services.
Yes, we do have hospital waiting lists, but they are for the most part much shorter than those of most overseas countries (including countries such as the UK and US), and despite what you hear we are also very well equipped...although of course hospitals could always do with more. One of our biggest problems is providing adequate regional health, but in our cities we are catered for by an extraordinary band of highly qualified health professionals. I think that we do them a great disservice to continually winge on about it. Reviewom my own personal experience of health systems in quite a few overseas countries, we are top rate!
My biggest whinge is saved for our Reviewiends of the media who love to beat up every issue they can...see earlier posts!! If we need to demand a radical improvement in anything in this country it is our woeful media!!
Sorry....this post was for something a little more light-hearted...bring on the nursing WLs, I need some comforting TLC
