In Mexico they say the lights are to remind you to obey the law. These guys with the masks have done a great job of getting the scum off the streets. All the regular visitors have been commenting, they wish they were there year round.

Was at TJ Saturday night, 2/28/09. Got back safely to the US, but lots of Policia trucks driving in circles around the Adelitas/HK circular block. They have face masked and carry assault rifles, and constantly blared their bright lights for seemingly no reason whatsoever. This made me feel uneasy. In California, the police usually don't turn on their lights unless it's for a good reason.

I went down last Saturday and the place was really slow. Quality is down a bit, too. Then I got hassled at the border- by the Homeland Security. I brought my birth certificate and the guy still gave me the business like, "what were you doing in Mexico alone?" I said Caliente Casino. He was really being an ass. Next time I'll bring my passport.

I can't remember, but I would be it has been 3 weeks. It is rumored that the remaining massageplanet members have fled to the US.

My favorite line is that over 6,000 died in the violence in Mexico.....yet they tell us to stay away from the drug and prostitution area where 0 died last year.

Yeah, I didn't pass up the pussy! Pass the border around 4pm and immediately saw 4 marines with m16's right away, got into the zona and found 3 police pick-up trucks with about 3 swat look-a-likes with full battle gear in each truck circling the zona every 5 minutes, also 1 military truck with about 6 marines making rounds like every hour. First time I've seen this, they must have been protecting the zona for any treats or something. HK and Adelita's were still packed even with all this stuff goin on. Came out of Adelitas around midnight, got into a cab and when I passed Constitution ave all vehicles were being stopped for inspection. Sentri was clear.

p.s. Hotel Coahuila rooms now have TV! Finally! Great for weekday overnights

I was in the zona last night and it was quite as a church mouse pissing on cotton. I was sort of errrie. It was not your usual saturday night crowd. It was more like during the week. I have not heard of any problems in the zone but, cabbing in and cabbing out probably is a wise thing to do.

It' not so much being targeted as getting caught up in crossfire that should be the concern. Nevertheless, I don't remember any shootouts being reported in the Zona since this mess started, so chances are you'll be safe.

But then again, you never really know. It's just a gut decision, I guess.

think of it this way- If you cancel your trip and nothing major happens in the zona when you were supposed to be there- you'll have to reflect on all the pussy you missed out on!!! A pussy is a terrible thing to waste. Wasting lots of em would be truly catastrophic!!!!!

MEXICO CITY – The U.S. State Department has renewed a travel advisory warning Americans about an increase in violence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The alert does not recommend staying away from the country or any particular part of it, but advises American to stay away from prostitution and drug-dealing areas.

It recommends visiting only legitimate business and tourist areas.

The alert issued Friday says violent crime is particularly worrisome along the U.S.-Mexico border, where automatic weapons and grenades have been used in clashes between police and drug traffickers.

More than 6,000 people were killed in drug violence in Mexico last year.
