Golf Club Massage

Okay, I know this probably belongs in another caeforum.xxxory. But I am desperate to get some info. Has anyone given a chair massage with a golf club? I just need some quick pointers or suggestions.

Hi Sandy,

I've done a few golf club sessions (mostly corp. tournament stuff).
Technique wise... it's all good. You'll likely find tight lower backs, work on lats, and traps, as well as triceps and deltoids. Watch out for those that have had a few drinks. Keep well hydrated if you are outside. Bring cards, and info on helping sports injuries.

Have fun... there are a lot of potential clients there.

That was my question! I've done chair massage at a golf club, but not with one!! I have NO clue how to do a massage with a golf club! :shock:

That's what I was thinking... which is more appropriate for applying pressure to trigger points in the glutes? A putter or a 9 iron?

I loved that episode!!! My hubby still accuses me of using tonka trucks on my clients.

WOW, my 1st reponse is why would anyone want to give a chair massage using a golf club.....but hey....different strokes for different folks.

I would have no idea how to do that, but there is a technique called Bamboossage where they use bamboo "rollers" to do both table and chair massage. Perhaps if someone here does that modality they would have more ideas??

This was a massage we learned in school. However, it was many years ago. There are many things you can do with the golf club on the back and shoulders. I was just hoping someone has done this recently and could give me any quick pointers. I am giving a presentation this morning to several empty nesters. Thought they would like the golf club thing, since many live and play in golf communities.

Good luck with your presentation! I'm intrigued... If your training comes back to you, would you share some techniques with us? I have several golfers in the family and would love to pass it on. (I'm more of a mini-golfer) Is it primarily for self-care, or is it a tool for the therapist?

The golf club is used as a tool for the therapist. You can use the end of the club for compressions along the spinae, low back, and to trigger the shoulders. It would be like using an elbow. Anyway, did the presentation this morning and it went fine. Everyone liked the tips I gave on care and self care for golf injuries and repetitve injuries.
