Question Catching COVID-19 (Omicron)

Hello guys!

Interesting thread. Lots of different statements and opinions from both sides: vaxed and
unvaxed.

In my deep ignorance I am confused with this covid issue. Maybe some of you could shed some light
on a few questions that bother me. Especially those who are vaccinated. They surely did extensive research
and were fully informed taking a shot. After all it takes courage and determination to accept into your body
a new substance which is irreversible.

So here are some questions to which I can not find a logical answer:

1. For the last few month the bars, restaurants, gyms etc were open for vaccinated clients only.
Why are they closed now?

2. All vaccines were tested and approved for two doses only (Johnson&Johnson for one). Any subsequent
shot seems to be a pure gamble. Why boosters are now promoted?

3. Currently Omicron is the dominant variant. All available vaccines are highly ineffective against it.
Why are they still mandated?

4. Over 80% of Canada population is fully vaccinated and yet there are more cases then before vaccinations. Why?

5. Covid among children was always rare and relatively mild. Why children are vaccinated?

What the governments fear the most is overwhelming the capacity of the hospitals and ICU’s meaning people that may otherwise get looked after won’t and deaths will be higher as a result. Capacity is not the number of bed or ventilators but how many nurses and doctors there are before they are overwhelmed and burn out. If they burn out and leave the workforce capacity can reduce. It takes years to replace them.

When the other variants hit there was a severity and death rate that the government used as a baseline when assessing what to do with Omicron. When Omicron hit it was much more transmissible. They didn’t know at the time that Omicron would be less severe so they planned for the worse case. The various measures were intended to slow the spread so that those that do get harder are within that hospital and ICU capacity.

All those vaccines listed as one or two doses was based on the original variants before the mutation Omicron. There was no Omicron vaccine version out there. They then thought a booster was going to give enhanced protection because it’s the only preventive immunity tool they had.

The vaccine was not meant to stop people from getting Covid, no matter what some here will say. It was meant to reduce severity once you got it. The more cases than before is a combination of just how much Omicron can spread and the interaction of people versus before. We’re not in full lockdown like before so people are mingling more so it’s spreading more and cases are up.

They needed more time to study the effects and determine the dosage for children. They weren’t prepared or comfortable to recommend a shot for kids before. Kids and schools can be superspreaders, getting them vaccinated is believed to help control the spread. Also, having kids in school is critical to keeping the economy running properly by allowing parents to go into work if they don’t have an option to work from home.

All that is one perspective. You’ll get the tinfoil hat society commenting on the alternative bizarro universe view shortly.

So are you doing any follow-up with the government regarding treatments for early treatment? Right now it takes the better part of a week to get the results of a PCR test back, rendering the ability to get early treatment self defeating. I have also read today that these treatment medications are in very short supply, meaning that they have to be rationed and decisions made on who gets them.

Given those realities, what's your solution? Are you bugging Trudeau and Ford and Elliott everyday to get their act together on tests and treatment medicines?

So if you're unvaccinated and get Covid, good luck trying to get those treatments you are espousing. Or you could just get vaccinated, and if you get infected, you have a much better chance of just fighting off that infection at home, and not even requiring those treatments.

Welcome to the new poster, I didn't mean to be rough on you but really I think the answers to most of what you raise have been out there for a while to anyone open minded enough to read and be reasonable.

1. I agree the lockdown is silly. I don't think it follows the "science" either.
2. "Pure gamble" is probably an unfair characterization of the risk that exists. It's true there isn't any long-term data on this, but it seems the weight of the evidence indicates the greater risk is not having people vaccinated. Think of it this way, the "gamble" you're taking on the booster is a better bet than the "gamble" you're taking on getting covid. The more immuno-compromised you are, the better the booster gamble looks.
3. While I disagree with mandating vaccines, this is a silly question that misses the point. One of the important differences with Omicron (according to what we know so far), is that it spreads more efficiently--from the virus's p.o.v. There is no evidence to show that the vaccines are less effective against it insofar as minimizing serious illness or death.
4. See above. Omicron spreads faster.
5. Another one I partially agree with you on. I think the decision to vaccinate kids was rushed and perhaps not the correct way to go. From what I understand, studies of the vaccine's effect on children have been far from exhaustive and it's not clear whether they were at more risk from the vaccine or covid. Citing U.S. data, (because records there appear to be better), fewer than 800 children have had their deaths attributed to covid during the whole 2+ years of the pandemic and the vast majority of those deaths happened in kids or young adults who had other serious co-morbidities. The number of "healthy" kids in the U.S. who have died because of covid is around 20. That would not seem to warrant vaccinating all kids. The other argument is that vaccinating kids stops the spread...and we know what Omicron did to that argument. What we are seeing on the government and media level is mass lunacy, but they appear to have correctly wagered that the population is sheep-like enough that they can get away with it.

There is no need to take a test first. Early treatment such as the banned Ivermectin can be applied as soon as someone suspects they have covid. No need to wait. It's the government's collusion with the extremely greedy Pfizer which is preventing this.

Covid 19 vaccine is experimental, that means it's not proven safe, period. With a recovery rate over 99.5% you don't need a damn vaccine. If you are afraid of getting sick never leave hime. Done.

When someone is pretending to be an expert on something they aren’t they lose credibility not just on that portion but the entire interview. He undermined his own credibility once he deviated off and away from MRNA technology.

Actually 401Ks and mutuals funds are a scam. It's great for the companies but not for the investors.

It is absolutely fair to question the credibility of someone with an exclusive platform for 3 hours passing themselves off as an expert which one one else on the podcast to counter argue his points.
