ARRESTS AT ILLEGAL MASSAGE PARLOUR IN RICHMOND HILL
Officers from the York Regional Police Drugs and Vice Enforcement Bureau have arrested three
people after an investigation revealed an illegal massage parlour was operating in the Town of
Richmond Hill.
Between August and September of 2007, Vice Team officers conducted an investigation into activities
occurring at Regent Acupuncture and Therapeutic Centre, located at 160 East Beaver Creek Road.
The investigation revealed that sexual acts were being exchanged for money on the premises. The
parlour was also operating without a license as required by the Town of Richmond Hill.
On Wednesday, September 19, 2007, officers executed a search warrant at the location and charged
three people for common bawdy houses offences.
CHARGES:
• Owner of a Common Bawdy House
• Keeper of a Common Bawdy House
• Inmate of a Common Bawdy House
• Inmate of a Common Bawdy House
• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Inmate of a Common Bawdy House
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on October
24, 2007.
York Regional Police will continue to vigorously investigate complaints of sexual services or
prostitution being provided or taking place in both commercial and residential locations. This type of
illegal activity will not be tolerated.
