A lot of white collar jobs can make $100k pretty easily when you work for medium to large corporations: IT, Project Management, Sales, Engineering,Tax, Accounting and Finance will get you there easily once you become a manager level. Even senior employee levels can hit $80-90k easily plus benefits and often with an annual bonus. But merely having an undergraduate degree is just not enough anymore to get to that level. So, coming out of high school could still have 5-8 years more education depending on what’s path you go. And then you need to continue learning until the day your retire to be relevant and not become obsolete.

But, working in the trades can get that kind of money too if you work hard, do quality work, develop a good reputation, take training and become unionized or a master tradesman..

Yeah, I get that. It seems most "white collar jobs" cap out around $100k-$150k these days from what I've seen. That's why I'm curious to know which people/jobs are able to exceed that. I've just got an undergrad degree and I'd say I'm doing pretty well compared to the average person. But I've probably peaked in my own career path, and need other options now if I ever wanna break that $150k ceiling.

What industry do you work in? Also what degree did you get? Depending on what field you are in sometimes jumping to different companies helps increase your wages. Especially in Toronto where there isn’t much stopping you from leaving to a competitor.

if you scan Indeed website of job opportunities you’ll get a sense for what is required. Depending on the field an undergraduate degree will get you $45-60k to start in most cases. In 20 years with inflation then maybe. Working your way up is the path but it’s a competition. If an undergrad is going up against someone with a graduate degree or some sort of professional designation they are at a disadvantage unless their soft skills are superior. While there are not hard and fast rules, companies want the best people and the more education one has the better positioned they are so long as the street smarts and soft skills are there as well.

it’s best to find a mentor to help mold you. Most people are clueless to what it takes to advance up the ladder in business. And many younger people have a sense of entitlement thinking that advancement will naturally come without hard work or effort.

I agree, I was just a little confused on what you said. I was about to say a person could move up but it will be competitive. However it will be competitive regardless.

Do the delivery jobs (Uber Eats, Skip the Dishes, etc.) pay well? From what I read it's barely better than minimum wage after expenses.

uber eats. skip the dishes pay penauts. Honestly, ho wmnay meals can you deliver in one day. I did look into uber and lyft, not worth my time and costs to maintain my vehicle. It was easy money for me to drive coaches to bring people to casino. Sadly the bus industry went under at the moment, so i got for trucking as for my part time job.

I wold say I am ahead.
1. Much less gas & 407 expenses for going to office. Just go to my office about 1 time per week.
2. No travelling expense, but did see a bit more of Ontario than I usually do. Feel like a genious for taking trip right before pandemic.
3. Early part of pandemic, eating fast food and restaurants much less - also helped lose a fair amount of weight.
4. Spent some on new hobby - mountain biking.
5. golf season started about 3-4 weeks late so saved a bit there.
6. I am down about 50% on pooning this year compared to previous 5 years. Did not go from early March to mid July and very seldom for July-Sept.
7. While my mutuals funds were down badly at the start, most have rebounded very nicely.
8. Did do some much needed home maint and minor renovations - but they should have been done anyway.

Sorry, forgot already. Just saw it on "Market Gainers" on Yahoo Finance the day it happened. Dropped down to $28 on market closing. It was just a holy shit moment is all.

yeah and not to account for the slippage. Probably wouldn’t be able to sell it for close to $78 since it was likely there very briefly. But more than doubling up your investment is a successful day if you are day trading.

Just a reminder to those quitting their jobs to become Day Traders. The reverse is also equally likely. i.e you can wipe out the 20k just as quickly.
It is almost like gambling. My advice: keep money on the side for this. Just don't bet your next mortgage amount to make a quick buck.

+$50k one day, -$35k the next. Over time this evens out to a small profit, and you're competing against AI.

I took a year off working and did options trading. I managed to teach myself and make enough to pay the bills during the year. No getting rich quick, but I didn't expect to as it was a learning experience and I learned a lot during that year. There is a program online, tastytrade.com - A Real Financial Network. These guys talk about options trading and even show some of their trades. If you look around on the site there is some educational stuff to help teach you about options trading.
