Here is the advice I gave to a guy a while back who was being played by a lady here last yr;

1, When I say help them out when ever possible doesn't mean financially. Never lend money to ladies in this business. Chances of you getting back that money is very slim and it can damage your friendship. So it's better to give away small amount or help out by giving bigger tip if you think she really needs it. Most make good money and if they mismanage it, that's their problem, not yours or they could be drug addicts.

2, Don't be too serious. You are not looking for a girl friend in here, You are here to have fun, so if they think you are serious, they might not open up their fun side of behaviour with you.
