As a few pundits have observed we should know the results of Florida by the end of Tuesday since they had well organized early voting and started counting those ballots early. In all likelihood if Trump loses Florida he loses the election, especially if it is a strong win for Biden in Florida. A loss in one of Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania or some other key battle ground state means an overall loss for Trump. If the margin of victory for Biden is slim then the legal challenges, shenanigans and conspiracy theories begin. If Biden wins decisively Trump will lose all interest in being president, will work to set up his next television gig and work to avoid a whole bunch of litigation that he will be subject to when out of office. As a lame duck the Republican Party will be done with Trump and will distance themselves from him.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the US Senate - will Mitch O'Connell keep his seat, will the Dems take over? With the Democrats controlling the House, Senate and presidency will real change happen or will it be back to normal business? There is and will be real tension between progressive and corporate Democrats.
