Where is the best food in TJ???

There is a nice littel restruant on the corner of second and Cinco De mayo called the Iris massageplanete. When I lived in TJ I use to eat there daily. Breakfast there is about 5$ US and its popular among the locals. When you go to a Restrant any where in Mexico always look for it being crowded by locals. This tell you that the food is safe and that it is good. The Iris has been around for over twenty years and it owned and operated by sisters. If you see a restruant and its empty you know you should stay away.

Although I am a major league eater, lobster is not on my favorites list. I do sometimes have lobster at Popotla, but more often get shrimp. I like to eat on the beach on a weekday when there are no tourists with a nice chica. It is my alltime favorite place to go with a chica.

I'm a lobster snob, if it's not Maine lobster I usually don't eat it or ask for it in Mexico or even California unless they have what I'm looking for.

I also hate the butter in Mexico, it just doesn't taste right to me, and lacks favor. so even if you get a nice lobster, it still doesn't taste that good, because of the lack of flavor in the butter. It's no wonder most Mexicans use very little butter? But this is just me, you guys might love the lobster in Mexico, and I know you'll love the prices.

No. Nothing in Tijuana compares to the lobster in Puerto Nuevo.

If you’re willing to take second best, the following sometimes have lobster:
La Costa (7th Street between Revolucion and Constitution)
La Palapa del Tigre (On Madero around 5th Street)
El Faro de Mazatlan (On Sanchez Taboada near the Financial Plaza)

Note: The Grand Bistro (in the Tijuana Grand Hotel) serves a first class lobster thermador. It's one of the best places to dine in Tijuana; well worth a trip.

The taco stand across the street and west of adelitas! The one that puts frijoles on the tacos. There is nothing better than farting while doing your favorita!

Carl's has always had better flavor than Mc, but anyway, McDonalds is way ahead of the competition even if it doesn't seem so.
And Burger King is not as good as in the USA.

Maybe it is me but:

I can eat pastor tacos 7 days a week and I am fine
If I eat at Burger King here in TJ my stomach aches and I spend the entire day in the bathroom...but not in the US Burger King's

I use to be able to handle Wendy's but no longer here...and it is my favorite of the fast food hamburger chains in the US...(Fuddrucker's is my all time favorite)


I'm good at McDonalds or Carl's Junior here in Tijuana. I eat at a lot of junk food places and really only have trouble with those two.

I don't know why, but the locals I know all prefer Carl's Jr. to McDonalds or Burger King.

There's a Carl's Jr. on 5th and Revolucion. Like Sanborns at 8th and Revolucion, Carl's Jr. is a place "to be seen." I've used it many times as a place to meet a chica on her day off for a TLN or todo el dia session.

Chicas always seem to enjoy going there. Buying them a simple meal has often proved a good way to start a session.

Which sushi place is best is a frequently debated topic among gringos living in TJ. I've always been happy with Komasa; others prefer Aki Sushi.

I don't know of any all you can eat sushi places in Tijuana. Sorry.

Komasa is located at Sلnchez Taboada 61 in Zona Rio. (Sلnchez Taboada has several great restaurants like Villa Savarios, La Espanada, and La Differencia, Chans and Pampas. It's also where TGIF Fridays, Peter Pipper Pizza and some others are located.)

Aki Sushi is located at Blvd. Agua Caliente 9150 suite 14. It’s in a little strip shopping center across the street from Giuseppi's (a good Italian restaurant).

I usually avoid the taco carts, because I have a very sensitive stomach, and I know lot of people who get sick on fish tacos from those carts. But I also know plenty of people who say those taco carts are good and they never get sick.

Immediately South of Club Chicago there is a place that makes these Tacos from that meet on a spit with the red fringes (forget the name) but man is that some good stuff. $1 / Taco

I was always told never to eat off the stands, but have only got sick in Mexico once. And that was from the El Torito restaurant in PVR.

I have favorite sushi restaurants in all the other cities I regularly visit; I might as well add TJ to the list...

Komasa is the best? Where is it? Any others? Good prices? (any offer all you can eat? Or would that be the bad idea in TJ?)


I think I've said before, I can handle maybe 4-5 street tacos without getting sick; I think the normal person can hit 2-3; after that, your body's defense system starts loosing the fight to the bacteria in those bitches... Maybe I'll hit just a little salmon or a few rolls the first time to test my tolerance!

This is kind of ironic, even though I want to try it; Im scared of getting sick (much like most of my friends are with the chicas their first time!)

I posted my favorite Sushi place because that was mentioned in the original question. Sushi refers to the rice that the rolls are made of, sashimi refers to raw fish, if you are afraid of raw fish then have sushi with seared or smoked fish. If you take a girl get the banana roll, they will love it, it is like a sweet dessert.

I've eaten at the taco carts on many occasions and never gotten sick, if you see the locals lining up at them the food is usually fresh and good.

If you want really good food you have to leave ZN. There is some decent cheap grub, but it is all second tier/poor people food.

Monte Carlo, I ate there once and found it bland, but many guys like it

La Perla is OK, the food is somewhat uneven and if they have a live band the noise is painful.

I have had street tacos from caliente and even outside on the corner near Adelitas and never gotten sick........The only thing I stay away from is the water, or anything that has the water on it, also I do not eat any diary products as I am allergic to diary anyway.......

you serious? those are my favorite place to eat. i been eating there for years and never had any problems. has there been any serious illness or fatality?

i love the clam and oyster stations too. they're my favorite!
