Probably the last NHL game tonight, until October.

Will this be the last year that the Leafs don't win the cup in a while? I'm predicting the Leafs will win the Cup twice in the next 3 years, or maybe 4 in the next 7 years.

The pandemic has taught management to be a little more careful in handing out fat contracts in the future. Signing experienced players at minimum pay to teach the young kids how to win can be a good trend to continue into the future.

I see a new dynasty in the making.

They havent been out of the first round since my nephew was 1. He is now old enough to drink alcohol. What the fuck makes you think this collection of duds can be studs? Marner is soft. Matthews is a magician, he disappears every playoffs. They sign proven playoff performers like Thornton and Simmonds because they have so many Stanley cup rings???? They adopted the wrong model. Toews and Kane got 10 million per year contracts for delivering 3 cups in 5 years. Marner and Matthews get 10 million per year for delivering 5 straight first round exits. They are as close to winning now as they were in 2013. which is not close

I just finished saying the pandemic taught the management to be more fiscally responsible. The reason why I think this is because aside from the Lightning, they have the most well balanced team in the league. Sure Marner and Matthews didn't score much. But it's not all about scoring. But also, they didn't give up any goals either. And Campbell's save percentage was actually better than Price's. A couple of unfortunate bounces in OT in the past doesn't change their future.

Losing their top player in the first 5 minutes of the playoffs didn't help either. Ditto for losing one of their top defencemen. You know Montreal took advantage and fed off of that, whilst they had their complete team for 100% of the series. Montreal had pretty much their full team for the whole playoffs.

Marner needs to get over his demon (not scoring goals in the playoff). I don't know why they resign Simmons. That guy was never the same after he broke his wrist and he was invisible in the playoff. Nylander is meh. The Leafs is pretty much screw when they overpay their top players. I am glad Anderson wasn't in net. Anderson pasted his prime as a starting goalie. I wouldn't be surprise if Campbell will be the starter for the next season

The wrist takes time to heal. You can't shoot with a sore wrist. He had 5 goals in his first 12 games, or something like that. Montreal took advantage of Tavares not being there and focused all their attention on the top line, whilst Hyman wasn't fully recovered from his injury. Their best performing defenceman, Muzzin went down in game 6, 2 years in a row. Montreal had their full lineup, just about, from beginning to end.

I'm not saying Marner is perfect. He needs to settle down. He took 7 penalties in his playoff career. 6 of them were pucks over the glass. How many resulted in goals against? I know the last one did. That one probably did the series in. Certainly if Tavares was there, Montreal wouldn't have been able to focus on the top line so much.

Campbell is the new starter. Anderson and Leaf management agreed to negotiate a deal to stay, but as a backup for less money if they can reach a deal. We'll see what happens.

Tavares is a good player but he is no way worth the $11 million he is paid. It is extremely unlikely but more likely than 4 in 7 merely for the fact that in 4 years Tavares contract will be an albatross and Matthews will be in Arizona, He's a UFA in 3 years and those in the know, know he is quite open that he will be going home

I'm a big leaf fan but the bottom line is they choked again no excuses losing to an inferior team like Montreal the leaf talent is night and day better than Montreals but Montreal showed more heart and desire to win and until the leafs match that intensity in the playoffs they won't win unfortunately

Totally agree. Perry and Stall have rings and pedigree. Better grits signings than Thornton Simmonds and Spezza with no cups. Then look at Gallagher. I hate that little fuck. But you have to respect what he brings and gives. That's what the Leafs have been missing for 2 decades. I honestly think Leaf Nation and the media are part of the problem. I dont think Steve Stamkos feels pressure to win in Tampa. And when the Leafs were up 3-1 on Mtl all the talk was about choking instead of meeting the Jets in round 2

There's a young junior player that may be drafted this year. He has the same name as the older Bobby Orr, but I don't believe they're related at all.
