Official: Carlsberg Returning to Thailand

Fluid Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., official importer and distributor of foreign beer brands in Thailand, confirm to ScandAsia that Danish beer giant Carlsberg will hit the market tomorrow.

Wednesday October 20 Carlsberg draught beer will be available in Bangkok and Pattaya locations. An occasion that will be celebrated by the many who has been patiently waiting for the re-entering of the Danish beer in Thailand.

In Bangkok and Pattaya you will be able to enjoy a cold, drafted Carlsberg in the following venues:

Bangkok:
Bully’s Pub, Chequers Soi 4, Jools Soi 4, Huntsman Pub, Black Swan, Apache Soi Cowboy, Shadow Bar Soi Cowboy, Londoner, Dubliner, Office Bar Soi 33, Mojos Soi 33, Sportsman Washington Sq, Bull’s Head, Robin Hood.

Pattaya:
Butchers Arms Soi Buakhao, Queen Victoria Soi 6, Sportsman Soi 13, Rosie O’Grady’s Soi 7, Centara Hotel.

Around the weekend further venues will added in Phuket and Samui.

Is it brewed in Thailand? The Carlsberg here in Cyprus is brewed in Cyprus and its awful. The Danish brewed is the best.

Isnt the one served at Hard Rock chilled to a negative temperature? I had it a couple of times, very cold, but must drink fast. Anyway their happy hour prices are insanely cheap, too bad no Tiger there. Fancy a drink there one of these days?

A bit over the top... they will import some Carlsberg and you can buy it in a few places. But before Carlsberg was brewed in Thailand and you could drink it in a lot of places, it was considered a local beer.

If I understand this correctly, the beers available in Phuket are Sing Ha, Tiger, Heineken, and now Carlsberg. Or are there more brands?

Chang and Carlsberg have today made a joint press release stating that they have agreed on an amicable settlement of the matters in dispute between them, including the arbitrations in London and Bangkok. The press release is attached as part of this stock exchange release.

The total payment by Carlsberg to Chang in connection with the apportionment of assets described in the press release is approximately US$ 120m, of which approximately US$ 40m will be included in Carlsberg's income statement for 2005 under special items.

The US$ 40m covers a fair value adjustment to the purchase price of shares in Lao Brewery and those shares in Hite Brewery acquired in 2002, which according to international accounting standards (IFRS) has to be expensed in the income statement as the shares were acquired more than 12 months ago.

The remaining US$ 80m covers Carlsberg's purchase of 50% of Brewery Invest Pte Limited, which includes a 2.6% holding in Hite Brewery - and consequently Carlsberg now holds 25% of the shares in Hite Brewery - as well as a purchase of 49% of Carlsberg Brewery Hong Kong.

Then there's the bottom shelf beers of Leo, Archa, Chang, Cheers. Another decent beer found in certain places is Asahi, brewed in TH of course. Also rans include Federbrau and I'm sure I'm missing one or two as for me it's Tiger or Heineken.

Oh year, best beer to be had for a reasonable price is beer Lao. My wife stocks it at her shop!

Carlsberg in Old Vic, Soi 6... now we have a respected reason to visit that soi.
