has anyone tried flexibak?

hi,i am thinking about buying a flexibak for my dad to try. he has had intermittent back pain over the years, and has once again hurt it playing golf. he can move around although seems in pain with it, but at nite he isnt sleeping well. as soon as he is lying down the pain is bad.
i'm pretty sure its the sciatic nerve as he is having pain down the back of his leg right donw tohis heel.

so i am hoping this may help, he is currently having accupuncture without a huge amount of relief. if anyone has had any experience with this product i'd love to hear about it.

Haven't tried flexiback but did buy a Backchamp at the Colchester Mind, Body and Soul exhibition a few weeks ago as I had been suffering with lower back pain for months. After being shown it at the show my back felt easier, but since using it twice a day for the last few weeks the back pain has gone! I have been told since that you can do the simple exercise without spending all that money but I think it's wonderful (and no, I haven't got shares in the company!)

Hi, I had a lot of problems with my lower back some years ago. I had seen a physiotherapist for about 6 times but still suffered. I found the Flexibak and used it a few times and my problems disappeared. I can wholeheartedly recommend it because since then whenever I get any discomfort, I just use the Flexibak and the problems go.

Yes...a friend loaned me her device last week when I trapped my sciatica nerve demonstrating how to use my mothers mobility scooter... I was in agony for a couple of weeks but x4 10 minute sessions on this fascinating thing worked wonders and I healed myself as if like magic. So I have now bought it off her and will continue to give my back 10 minutes gentle work out every day... I really appreciated getting my back back, you do not know what good health is until you experience bad health. Sue

I posted for the first time today in another thread, and one of the questions I asked was had anyone any direct or indirect experience with the Flexibak (and another back gadget which I own called the Backswing). I suppose I should have looked around for this thread first. In the back of the manual for the Flexibak it does say that if you have a prolapsed disc (which I suspect I have, due to the pain going down the buttock and leg into the foot, with numbness and some pins and needles) you should consult with your doctor before using it; I did not notice this until I had actually started using it.

Certainly it gave me some relief, particularly the first timeI used it, and does not seem to be making things worse, but is certainly not a cure-all. I suspect it may work best as "prevention", or when one is well on the road to recovery.

Having read plenty in recent weeks on back problems, as with so many other illnesses, it seems that there are always things that work well with some people, but with others, it has no effect or apparently makes things worse. So if someone has used the Flexibak and either found it made no difference or it made them worse (I am not actually saying the latter has happened) it is just as important to speak up. In Science, a negative result can be just as important as a positive one. Of course there is always the possibilility that one would have got better (or worse) anyway, and it may merely be a coincidence that one was using the Flexibak at the time.

Of course one should always observe the instructions as supplied with any medicine or treatment!

While it is good to see the genuine positive experiences above, can any of you gave given these testimonies state whether you were suffering from a prolapsed disc rather than a strained or pulled muscle, etc?

The price of the Flexibak is rather less than most other "gadgets" (e.g. the "Backswing" or similar decompression machines) and certainly when one has suffered prolonged back pain, cost becomes less important (I have lost more than the cost of it in list wages in the 2+ months I have been off work).
