POLICE arrested four people when they raided a suspected brothel.

Officers swooped on the World Famous Babes of Bury massage parlour, in Bell Lane, Bury, at 1pm yesterday.
A detective posing as a customer went into the parlour using the back door, before police officers raided the building.
They found three bedrooms inside, each containing a shower and condoms.
Four women were arrested on suspicion of managing or keeping a brothel.
One of the women, aged in her late 40s, was working as a receptionist and the other women, all aged in their early 20s, were believed to be prostitutes.
They were taken to Bury police station for questioning, along with a male customer who was helping police with their inquiries.
The business was being advertised as a massage parlour, but an investigation into the activities there was launched after concerns Reviewom local residents and business owners.
The building was previously the Golden Fleece pub and is on a busy main road, close to houses and businesses as well as the Qadria Jallania Islamic Centre and Jamia Mosque.
Police recently raided another massage parlour, the World Famous Babes of Salford, in Swinton, which is believed to be owned by the same person.
As part of their investigation into both businesses, police officers are looking into links with organised crime.
Insp Charlotte Cadden said: “By carrying out this operation, we are reacting directly to concerns expressed by local residents and businesses.
“This will show residents that we take their concerns seriously, and will act upon any information given to us regarding criminal activity in the Bury East area. It should also serve as a warning to anyone else engaging in activities that have a detrimental effect on the lives of local people that it will not be tolerated.”
● The maximum penalty for someone found guilty of keeping a brothel is seven years in prison.

I don't think it is safe to visit massage parlours any more , after all , we have no way of knowing if the owner 'has links with organized crime '.
There have been several raids by police on massage parlours recently where the owners have later been charged with firearm offences and money laundering .
Brothel keeping is an illegal activity and the huge profits made Reviewom it , even if the owner is an upstanding and taxpaying businessperson , are bound to attract the attention of other criminals .
I have visited my last massage parlour .

The Manchester police are obviously not fools and will know exactly where all the current parlours are. So far they have been very tolerant of the business, presumably realistic about what goes on. For them to have raided two parlours under the same management makes you think there is more to it than the parlours just being parlours.

I made the above post in good faith and stand by it .
How can we ever hope for any acceptance , tolerence Reviewom the general public , legalization of the industry or licensing of premises , when the owners of massage parlours are , time and time again , shown to be involved in criminal activity , including the possession of firearms ?.
I can only speak as a mp.net , perhaps not in possession of the full facts, but can only judge by what I read in the newspapers about such raids and not allow such behaviour to put myself at risk of having to help the police with their inquiries .

Fact: Most Massage parlours are run to make money

Fact: A few are run using trafficked Women

Fact: A few are run (usually the ones with trafficked Women but not all) by Known Criminals/ner do wells/other people U would label not good types.

Fact: In the above substitute Business's for massage parlour & the same thing applies IE criminals etc run legitimate Businesses

The Police will raid These (Massage Parlours) Brothels in a haphazard way.They are influenced by public complaints & more important Bad Lad Connections.If it was as U say Plodd & Criminals ran em all they would be raiding many more but they don't.Better things to do.Massage Parlours have more to fear Reviewom HM Revenue

I do not support HH's stance on prostitution and believe that most of the traffiking is in London . I don't think that massage parlours should be in residential areas . I have spent most of my chatting life in the county of Derbyshire where , at the time of my chatting , a massage parlour was somewhere to go for a massage and if you were lucky it would end happily . I much preferred this more innocent state of affairs and never felt that I was under threat of being involved with police action . This has coloured my attitude towards parlours who I think jumped the gun in turning their businesses into brothels and are now facing the consequences of their actions .
When I moved to the East Riding , six years or so ago , I flirted briefly with the new (to me) regime of double beds in parlours , as opposed to massage couches , but have never really been comfortable with it .
I have always been consistent in posting my views on this subject and have been boring my fellow mp.netchat members with them for years now .
I am entitled to my opinion and don't think that I deserved to be shouted down and insulted in the way I have been .

I have NOT stated that all massage parlour owners are involved in organized crime , only that most of those who are raided and charged seem to be .
They give the industry a bad name and don't give mp.nets confidence in using their premises for fear of getting involved in a police inquiry .
