How should I introduce myself to a guy who is older than me?

So if you were in this section earlier, you probably saw a question like this. But anyway.

He's a sophomore. I'm a freshman. I doubt he knows I exist. He's not "popular", but I think he's the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. And from what I hear he's a really good guy. I've never talked to someone VOLUNTARILY who was older than me, especially when I barely have any knowledge about their life.

I was in his math class for 2-3 months in 7th grade (I dropped out of Algebra I and moved back to Pre Algebra. MATH IS TOUGH). But other than that I don't think he has a clue who I am. But one of my friends knows him a little bit, so I was thinking maybe she could help me out.

ANYWAY. How should I approach him? Monday will be the third day of school (we started yesterday, Thursday). I am running out of time to use they "Hey, I'm so-and-so, I'm a freshman. What's your name? So-and-so? Nice to meet you! I'm just trying to meet new people and make new friends." But he's probably going to think I'm REALLY WEIRD for randomly introducing myself to him and his friends (the first day of school he sat with 3 friends at lunch, then today it was 1 person).

Also, I am insanely shy, and totally afraid of rejection after I asked a guy to the 8th grade dance and he said no (well that one wasn't because he didn't wanna go with me, but still. I'LL GET INTO THAT LATER). And when I'm trying to act confident I come off really awkward and annoying.

I'm just really nervous because I REALLY like him (from what he looks like, his FB page & what my friend said, at least), and I wanna get to know him but I don't know how to do that! Should I add him on FB? We have 9 mutual friends.

Just go up to him, and talk to him. Most guys think it's pretty cute when a girl is all shy and random. Get to know him a little bit. DO THIS SLOWLY! If you do it quickly, it will get very awkward very quickly. Once y'all become friends, ask him if he has a FB (which you already know). Once he says yes, tell him that you'll add him. Once you have his FB (and y'all are both on at the same time), start an IM with him. Y'all could talk about general stuff about each other, and everything from there will all fall apart. if he doesn't say anything to you when he accepts you then you can just send him a message and be like ''hey, random add hope you don't mind '' or something like that. Then have a conversation there. You can talk to him a few times on FB and get aqquainted there so that its less awkward when you see him in person. You can say to him ''Well I'll see you round school sometime '' or something along those lines so that he'll pay attention to you in school and you can say hey.

The best way to break the ice with Anyone you want to know better is to simply say "hi, I'm ____, what's your name?" and smile i'm telling you, you can't go wrong with this line. It's simply, friendly, and make sure to smile at him! he will say his name and then just go from there. ask him what grade he's in (even though u already know). he'll tell u, then ask him how it's going for him so far. just keep the convo going naturally. then, just when things are going well, find a reason to leave the conversation politely. say you have to go meet your friend. YOU want to be the first one to leave so that u leave him with the impression "wow she was nice and pretty and she's not clingy cause she left the conversation first!" lol good luck

He's not that much older than you, and also, nobody is better than another person just based off popularity. If the guy is actually cool he'll be cool to you as long as you are cool with him. Really, be yourself, and ask him questions about himself. Idk but just don't even think so hard about it. Nothing weird about that at all.

But honestly I like the shyest guy ever but he has tried talking to me and u can see how nervous he gets as his brother kid if slipped how he likes me ( have to love lil siblings)
Anyways I know this is hard to believe after I say what I do but I get ranked shyest girl all the time soft spoke. And quiet but when there's a guy who I like and think hey it's with a shot I have gained the guts to do this just casualy ( since we do an athletic groups together ) when I'm with them ( guy I get untreated In) say heeey! u new to this?
