    Hey, everyone.

I know very few specifics about Reiki. I've known reiki practitioners and such, but I don't know that much.
I have recently discovered my ability to channel (I was on the path to it for a long time). I'm at a point in my life where I'm not sure of my direction. My other career choice ended up not really being the one for me, even though it is still my passion. I'm a little confused, but I know I want to have a profession either main or on the side, where I use spirituality. I found that there is a place in my area that trains people in reiki and I'm very drawn to the idea. I would like to have a few things under my belt to widen my knowledge and options and so in addition to my other choices i'm really drawn to reiki.

I am just wondering if anyone out there who has experience with Reiki could give me advice, or just let me know what I'd be getting involved in from an inside view of it.

    Thanks!

As a person who is currently going through the process of my Reiki Mastership, allow me to recommend a couple of books to you that will give you a better idea of what Reiki is, treatments, etc. There are a few different forms of Reiki out there but I have studied under the Usui Reiki method, which is where Reiki came from.

Reiki The Healing Touch, by William Rand
The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui

Reiki is a wonderful, life changing thing but not fore everyone. I would take a look at these books before you drop several hundreds of dollars on a certification class!

Hope that helps. Any other questions let us know!

I have been a practicing Reiki Master for a long time now,and have undergone many changes, some subtle, some very abrupt. Some people are overwhelmed at first with how much baggage they unload during the detox process following attunements. Have a support system in place and remember to treat yourself well, proper rest/diet/hydration/discussion and you will be fine! Reiki only does good and you cannot overdo anything. William Rand's bool really has shaped me into an excellent healer. Also do not have the miscoception of trying yo fix everyone you encouner--some people really have to WANT to be helped, and sometimes it can be a real challenge sometimes.Just feel free to come back anytime to ask questions or whatever,we'll be here!

Have fun on this journey--it's awesome!

    Namaste,
    Johnny
