The point was that body rub parlors are licensed as such and holistic spas are not, so the regulation and enforcement are different. And that's what was rubbing the body rub parlors the wrong way (pardon the pun!).

In short. It is like Taxi industry and Uber fighting for a share of the market.

You Canadians are light years ahead of us Americans. In the United States, if something like Flirt existed ANYWHERE, there would be police raids with helicopters and SWAT teams and jail sentences and FBI investigations. But this Canadian TV reporter matter-of-factly states that licensed erotic parlors like Flirt are perflectly legal and OK, and the only issue is shady underground places which are iffy. Wow. That is some huge fucking difference between the two countries and cultures.

He's so right. I lived in the US in various places. When I moved to Toronto and discovered the scene....I thought I died and went to heaven. People here take it for granted! It seems like the spas in the US are really dingy and dirty....not like here where you have your choice of first class spas with gorgeous women. And dont get me started on the strip clubs lol.

We are ahead in some regards, but also behind in other areas. Remember, in Ontario, private healthcare for pets is legal, but private healthcare for humans is illegal. We are the only country in the world where pets - through their owners - can pay for healthcare but humans can't. No other country in the world has that restriction.

That puts us about 50 years behind the U.S. in that regard. Ontario insurance companies want to offer the coverage, doctors are willing to charge the patients, but Ontario politicians want to prevent us from getting the healthcare that tens of thousands on waiting lists would be willing to pay for. My Aunt died on a cancer surgery waiting list in Ontario. My nose doctor in East York told me many patients die each year before he gets to them (he is an ENT or does cancer surgery as well). No one talks about the thousands of Canadians that die prematurely because we are restricted by law from getting faster care.

On a positive note, we can spend $10,000 a night gambling at an Ontario casino. We just can't spend that same $10,000 at a hospital if we are sick. That's 'Canadian Values' - Gambling is a Yes, but Private Healthcare is a No. And the average messed up, fucked up Canadian thinks nothing of the matter.

One of the great things about immigration from other countries is that eventually these new immigrants will push Ontario and other provinces to allow private healthcare. The outsiders will teach White Liberals that their policy of restriction and death in human healthcare is ridiculous.

Money is no object. But the issue is logistics: whenever I cross the border (twice in the last two years), Canadian customs officers detain me and grill me about why I'm traveling by myself and who I am. They're extremely suspicious even though I'm a white guy. I tell them "Travel" (my main goal is to visit the full-contact strip clubs which we don't have here) but they're not satisfied and keep asking me questions and looking at my passport and giving me a hard time, even though everything's perfect. If that's any help... other than that dunno how to get cbs off your back. They're just doing their job to protect our country. There have been quite some headline terrorism in Europe which could put other countries, incl. Canada, on a higher alert for an extended period of time since international agencies share intel. This could possibly explain why security appears to be tighter. Could be many more reasons as well.

Do you have at least one friend or family member here?
If you have a real contact person in the city you're going to visit, you just have to say you're going to visit "cousin Joe", or your friend "Bill", who lives in TO. If they ask for an address, make sure you have a legit one.
That should help.
They're always curious and cautious when you don't have a proper destination.

Tell them you go shopping in Ontario 2 - 3 times per year because of the favourable exchange rate. Have an idea of where you could say you go shopping - Yorkdale Mall, Vaughan Mills Centre, Milton Premium Outlet Mall. Tell them you buy clothes for work - suits, shoes, ties or something similar that matches your actual occupation. Keep your answers short and matter of fact. When they ask you questions, use the word 'I' or me often, and make it personal, such as:

I like going to the stores in Canada because the exchange rate allows me to save alot of money.
I get better selection at the stores in Canada
It's worth it for me to drive across the border and get the items I want. I have had good success shopping at stores in Ontario.
It is not far for me to drive to Ontario for shopping. I only live 2 hours from the border.

The border guards try to create a narrative that you are doing something that is unusual and not in your best interest. As in, we should be suspicious of you because what you are doing what a normal person would do. You correct them through matter of fact statements that do make sense.

When I cross the border, I get sent to secondary screening all the time. They go through my car, my wallet etc. If you are a male, between 18 - 45, they will harass you. They have to harass someone to justify their existence as border guards, so single men are the most acceptable target versus women or the elderly. Another privelage of being a male, I suppose. That is the society we live in on both sides of the border.

I once went across with my wife, and then 30 days later, I went across with my girlfriend. They had record of both crossings but didn't ask me anything, nor did they care. When I go by myself, they always harass me. But, I just give matter of fact answers that are logical and easily explainable. And they eventually let me go on my way.
